Film Geeks SD

Film Geeks SD Join passionate, slightly bonkers film programmers at unique venues such as Digital Gym Cinema.

We are a group of volunteer film programmers working for the non-profit organization Media Arts Center San Diego to bring genre cinema to san Diego. We program late night horror films, year long films series (like the film noir, John Carpenter and Hammer Horror), and other special film events. We have brought in people such as Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Bob Burns (Beast Wishes), Graham Skipper (Almost Human), and more.

FUN FACT! Jesse James loved chili and he stated:

"I won't rob the bank in McKinney, Texas. That's where my favorite chili parlor is located." ~ Jesse James

So we will be serving McKinney-style Texas chili (no beans) on Sunday before THE LONG RIDERS. Seriously, who does research like this just to make you the perfect food before a screening???

Hope to feed a full house on Sunday. Cornbread and candied jalapenos will also be on hand.

Four sets of real acting brothers playing four sets of real outlaws! Join us Sunday at noon at Digital Gym Cinema as we screen THE LONG RIDERS with James and Stacy Keach as the James brothers; David, Keith and Robert Carradine as the Youngers; Christopher and Nicholas Guest as the Fords; and Dennis and Randy Quaid as the Millers. We'll have a cool giveaway for the film to celebrate this casting.

This is not film but it is geeky fun. San Diego Fringe is in its final weekend and there are so many great shows. You can Find Gollum singing a cabaret, great drag, Robinson Crusoe, a crazy Japanese troupe, a dubiously talented lounge singer performing one song all time and a pantomimed ping pong match. Beth has created a playlist with videos from more than half the shows.

There are some wildly talented artists doing amazing work, please consider supporting them.
