Help Bring a Neighborhood Cinema to the East Side — Give to the Max 2025!

Our community deserves more places to hang out, connect, learn, and see ourselves reflected on screen. A neighborhood cinema can do that! Community cinemas provide something more than movies: we create gathering spaces, spark social connection, bring diverse stories to the forefront, boost the local economy, and open doors for learning and community power-building.

TriLingua Cinema is a crew of friends and neighbors who love and live on the East Side. Since 2020, we’ve been hosting free and low-cost screenings that reflect the languages and cultures of our community.

After five years as a mobile pop-up cinema, we’re opening a more permanent space. With support from our longtime partners at the East Side Freedom Library, .side.freedom.library we’re transforming the library’s lower level into a micro-cinema, a cozy weekend home for films, conversations, workshops, and more. This space will bring consistent, accessible, multicultural movie experiences to the East Side year-round.

To make this happen, we partnered with ESFL to collaboratively raise $10,000 this Give to the Max Day!

Your support helps us:
•Build out and improve this dedicated screening space
•Host more regular film screenings, conversations, and community events
•Keep programming free and low-cost
•Grow our multilingual film offerings
•Increase our partnership opportunities with ESFL and other local orgs
•Move closer to our ultimate goal of opening a full-time, community-run nonprofit movie theater for the East Side!

Join us for the MIDWEST PREMIERE of Robbie Banfitch’s sophomore follow-up to his psychedelically experimental micro budget horror opus The Outwaters. Banfitch will be with us to host a Q&A and sign autographs!

Synopsis

This film follows Robbie Lyle (Banfitch), a New Jersey filmmaker who starts documenting his mother’s grief surrounding the disappearance of his sister, Noelle, some years prior. As Lyle sinks deeper and deeper into the project, he starts to discover things he never knew about her disappearance, and the terror mounts as he begins to search for her down Tinsman Road. The film is truly a haunting ghost story that dares to explore the lives those left behind are forced to build around the emptiness of loss.

This intense mystery/horror film is not rated, but probably not appropriate for most children.

It will be screened in English for English subtitles.

Motion sensitive viewers should be aware that this is a handheld, found footage movie.
