Sterlingshire Farm Sterlingshire Farm- nurturing the abandoned farm we purchased in 2014. In 2023 - Chestnut Orchards So follow us as we build our farm from the ground up.

Down a little country road, around a bend is our little piece of heaven. The 10 acres we purchased in 2014 was a farm- over 50 years ago. Trying, failing and trying again to get it right.

Today was spent preparing a section of our chestnut orchard-for planting our chestnut trees

Raking the area snd removing logs and sticks, bush hogging the area, taking smooth and then adding manure to the whole field. This area is a little over an acre. Will be putting in our first chestnut trees ( grown from seed) in another few weeks.

Another beautiful chilly day at the farm. Spinach and lettuce coming up, garlic is growing well. Peas snd beets are planted. We have 62 chestnut seedlings in the greenhouse. Today we cleaned up trees, brush and more around the orchard and had time to grill out with uninvited guests-our turkey and one of our curious bucklings.

Over the past 3 years we have put our heart and soul into nurturing and restoring the farmlands we purchased in 2014.

We have spent time during the pandemic enriching soils, building pastures and acres of fencing, creating farm roads, upgrading ag buildings- greenhouses and sheds, planting fruit and berry orchards, raising vegetables and raising livestock ( goats, donkeys, mules, ponies, and chickens).

As we move into 2023 we are looking long term and creating two chestnut orchards and working on event venue space. We hope to have open in late in 2023.

So thank you for following along on our journey as we continue to grow

Our posts will come much more frequently in 2023
