Join us this Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. for the formal opening of ART AWAKENING, a new installation by local artist and maker Aegis! Witness the works and put creation into conversation with the creator at this free to attend show, open to all. Original works and prints will be available for purchase, and ART AWAKENING will remain on display through September 12, 2026.

“Aegis is a Richmond, Indiana artist who believes that the creative wells within each of us are sacred, healing and holy.

Art was deeply interwoven in her childhood religious experience. Having a crisis of faith at 18, she packed away her paint brushes, guitar and pen to embark on an early career in social work. Sometime after, compound personal and professional trauma caused her to withdraw from the work she had chosen.

Art re-awakened as a healing balm. She now believes that art, not psycho-analysis, is the medicine with which we can free ourselves from personal and collective insanity. Her paintings are a personal testimony to this process.

Aegis reclaims her inner world through paint, song-making and writing. Her work focuses on the mythology of self, her growing awareness of the human electro-magnetic bio field, and spiritual healing.” - Statement Provided by Aegis, August 2026-

Moo-ve on down to Oblivion Cinema & Arts every Wednesday for our free B.Y.O. Supplies Sketch Club! Join us starting at 4:00 P.M. for this free, free form event. Unwind, connect, and get creative at this relaxed, judgment-free space for artists and doodlers of all levels (and did we say it’s free?)! Whether you’re a seasoned sketcher or just getting started, this event is open to all. Come solo or bring a friend, settle in with your tools of choice, and draw at your own pace. Share ideas, get inspired, and enjoy the vibes of a chill, creative evening. No sign-ups, no pressure—just good people and great sketching! We’d love to see you there!

We’ll be continuing our brief intermission before reopening the space tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, 2026. As August winds to a close, we're gearing up for September at Oblivion Cinema & Arts! As we polish off the final details of our month schedule, we're dropping our workshop and gathering schedule for the week ahead.

Lovers of letters, rejoice—we’re back on the books for our Linocut For Beginners: Snail Mail Stamp workshop! Join us on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. and celebrate the analog art of postal correspondence by carving your own custom stamps for personalizing letters and envelopes. This session is priced at $20 per patron and includes all necessary materials and instructions. Do you frequently use bags with pockets, only for those pockets to become even more cluttered than a bag ~without~ pockets? Reflect the chaos within and paint the contents of your portable junk drawer on a tote bag at our What’s In My Bag? Art Cafe Day on Saturday, August 29, 2026! Join us from 11:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. for a day of drop in crafting and paint your own tote bag at your own pace! Order off a menu of various tote bag types, settle in with paint, and make your own accessory with the assistance of our studio crew. Take inspiration from our theme or go with your flow and switch up the prompt—the choice is yours! No reservations or registration is required for this all ages, all skill levels friendly event. This project varies in price based on the selected tote bag size, ranging from $15 - $25 dollars (fee includes all materials and assistance).
