Provincetown International Film Festival Unveils Our 2026 Festival Poster
Featuring An Original Painting by Karen Cappotto.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — April 27, 2026 — The Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF) has revealed the official 28th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival poster, created from an original painting by local artist, Karen Cappotto—an image that distills Provincetown’s shoreline and beach homes into something at once tangible and otherworldly.

Anne Hubbell, executive director of the Provincetown Film Society, explained, "We were drawn to Karen's work for her unique depictions of Ptown. The painting really feels like summer."

"When I was asked to have a harbor painting represent this year's PIFF I was beyond excited and extremely honored." said Karen Cappotto. "I love Provincetown, our community and its creative culture…the Film Festival brings all of that together."

The 2026 poster continues PIFF’s tradition of partnering with local artists whose work reflects the festival’s commitment to bold, personal vision. The Cappotto poster follows others by Sian Robertson (2025) and John Dowd (2024). It will appear across festival materials and be available for purchase.

Cappotto's original painting that the poster was created from will be auctioned off during PIFF June 10-14, 2206, with proceeds supporting the Provincetown Film Society's year-round programming and educational initiatives.

The 28th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival will take place June 10-14, 2026 bringing together filmmakers and audiences for a celebration of boundary-pushing storytelling in one of the country’s most iconic creative communities. Passes are currently available at provincetownfilm.org. The festival lineup will be announced in early May.

From MovieMaker Magazine.
We are proud To Share We Are Amongst The 50
Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee in 2026.
"If there were an award for least-boring festival, Provincetown would be in the running every year.
It helps that its patron saint, John Waters, schedules fundraisers in places like the local dump and jail, when he isn't hosting dishy, fascinating Q&As like the one he held last year with Ari Aster. But the best thing about the fest is its bold programming, which last year included the constantly surprising Twinless, from director-star James Sweeney, and the aforementioned F**ktoys, from director-star Annapurna Sriram.
Provincetown is an LGBTQ+ and arts mecca, and it's such a lovely summer getaway that it's easy to forget people live there year-round. But the festival gave a nice sense of local flavor at last year's Footloose-themed party in the town's high school gym, and with frequent events and screenings at the Town Hall, which was built in the 1880s and is one of our favorite places to see a talk or a movie. This is a festival known for excellent taste, which may explain why it's fairly hard to get into.

But audiences appreciate the curation.”
