Behind every 911 call is a Communications Officer working around the clock to keep our community safe. Today, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to Sean and the Bluefield Rescue Squad for supporting our team! 📞✨

They have generously donated the funds to purchase the beds for our new Dispatcher Bunk Room. Having a dedicated space to rest during extended shifts and severe weather emergencies is crucial for our dispatchers' well-being and readiness.

As fellow first responders, Bluefield Rescue Squad knows firsthand how important a space like this is. This gift is a wonderful reminder of the strong partnership we share in Mercer County. 🤝

Thank you for looking out for our dispatchers and supporting our first responder family. We look forward to showing off the completed room soon! *Below is our inspirational design*

Behind every headset is a heart that breaks right along with yours. 🎧💔

As 911 Communications Officers, we are trained to be the calm voice in the dark and the steady hand during chaos. But beyond the consoles and the radio frequencies, we are also parents, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, and friends.

No amount of training can fully prepare a human soul for the weight of a traumatic loss like the one our community is facing. No call is ever truly "easy," but some stay with us forever.

Please know this: You are not alone.

We are sending our deepest thoughts, prayers, and strength to:

😪The families and friends navigating the unthinkable.

🚓🚑🚒Our brave responders who worked furiously to do whatever they could on the scene.

🎧Our dispatchers who answered the call, maintained their focus, and got help on the way with incredible speed during the most difficult moments.

💔 Our entire community, as we process this grief together.

We want to acknowledge the heavy burden everyone is carrying. We stand with you, we hurt with you, and we are here for you always.

To the Women Behind the Thin Gold Line 🤩🤩

Behind every calm voice on the radio is a woman of incredible strength—and behind her is a a mom or mother figure who taught her how to stand tall in the face of a storm.

Being a 911 Dispatcher means carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders while the rest of the city sleeps. It takes a special kind of heart to stay steady when others are panicking, and that resilience didn't just appear out of nowhere. It was nurtured, encouraged, and built by the moms who raised us to be the helpers, the protectors, and the lifelines.

To our Dispatch Moms: We see you balancing the headset and the household. We see the missed holidays and the late-night shifts, all while giving your kids the best of you, even when you're drained.

To the Moms and mother figures of Dispatchers: Thank you for raising daughters strong enough to handle the calls most people hope they never have to make. You are the foundation of their bravery.

Today, we celebrate two generations of strength.

Happy Mother’s Day to the heroes on the line and the women who raised them! 🎧❤️🌹

DID YOU KNOW YOUR PHONE CAN TALK TO 911 WHEN YOU CAN’T? 🚨

If you’ve ever wondered why public safety officials are urging you to fill out the Medical ID on your iPhone or the Emergency Info on your Android, here is the life-saving reason: RapidSOS.

🏥 What is RapidSOS?
Think of it as a secure, high-speed digital bridge. When you call 911, the legacy system sometimes only gives dispatchers a rough idea of where you are. RapidSOS changes that by sending precise GPS location and your pre-filled medical data directly to the dispatcher's screen in seconds.

🛡️ Why you need to fill it out TODAY:
You’re Unconscious or in Shock: If you can’t speak, dispatchers can see your allergies, medications, or conditions (like Diabetes or Epilepsy).

Precise Location: It helps first responders find you faster in a park, a large apartment complex, or on the road.

Emergency Contacts: Dispatchers can see who to call for you immediately, rather than waiting for hospital staff to identify you later.

📲 How to set it up (It takes 2 minutes!):
For iPhone Users:
Open the Health App.
Tap your Profile Picture in the top right.
Tap Medical ID and then Edit.
CRITICAL: Scroll to the bottom and ensure "Share During Emergency Call" is turned ON.

For Android Users:
Open Settings.
Tap Safety & Emergency.
Enter your info under Medical Information and Emergency Contacts.

PRO-TIP: You can also create a free, secure profile at EmergencyProfile.org. This ensures that no matter where you are, your vital info is available to over 5,000 emergency response centers across the country.
Help us help you! Take a moment to fill this out today—it could truly be a lifesaver. 🚑💨

Honoring Our Partners in Education 🍎📚

The Mercer County Communications Center Authority Board would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the educators across Mercer County during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Our dispatchers and the local teaching community share a vital common goal: the safety, growth, and well-being of our county’s children. While we work behind the consoles to ensure they are protected, you are in the classrooms inspiring them to reach their full potential.

To the teachers, administrators, and school staff who dedicate their lives to our youth—thank you. Your patience, dedication, and leadership make our community a better, stronger place to live.

Please join us in the comments by tagging a teacher who has made a difference in your life or the life of your child!
