The Desmond Theater(Huron)

The Desmond Theater(Huron) Opened as the Desmond Theatre in 1922 seating 1350. Later was remodeled in an art deco style and was renamed the Huron Theatre. It was later converted to a gym.

It ran until 1990 when it was bought and closed by GKC Theatres. The Desmond theater, or Huron,is something I would like to eventually see restored to its original glory. Now a gym; this building is rich in history, and deserves to be a staple of the downtown once again!

I want ideas! how do we get this this back to glory? Whats the first step in rebuilding this to a movie/concert venue? Who would be willing to invest? It has to be a grass roots effort... in a sense of St. Andrews Hall etc..

Sperry's Moviehouse will open at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15, the first movie will be screen at 7 p.m. that night

It has recently come to my attention that the community college has a plan that in about 5 years, they want to purchase ALL of McMorran. Since it is already a huge blow to Port Huron business...
