No Festival Required Independent Cinema

No Festival Required Independent Cinema No Festival Required Independent Cinema screens thoughtful, provocative and highly entertaining films and videos in the Greater Phoenix area, Arizona, U.S.A.

About Us

Phoenix native Steve Weiss began No Festival Required Independent Cinema in June 2002 with a sheet strung between two poles, a borrowed projector, a willing art-space, and an hour’s worth of short films gathered from great local and national directors. His selection of feature-length documentaries, narratives, and experimental, thoughtful packaged shorts shows has made No Festival Requir

ed a four-time winner of Phoenix New Times “Best of Phoenix”. Weiss’ film background, which includes the 1977 Louis B. Mayer Film Grant from San Francisco Art Institute and a student film Screen Actor’s Guild award, lends itself to seeking and promoting quality cinema. Selected Screening Partners 2002-2019

When I saw the trailer for the film, I considered it seriously for inclusion in the 2026 AZ Architectural Film Showcase, but thought it might get a wider distribution earlier than that, which it has. We've selected other films in the meantime, so I want to share it. I plan to see it in a theater this weekend.

Playing at various theaters in the Valley starting Thursday from what I see. Harkins and AMC, check the internet for showtimes. There aren't many in a day.
