He really is uncanny

Bruce Kulick is one of two guitar players who made me want to play guitar — the other being Ace Frehley.

When I first saw KISS live in 1986, Bruce was the guitarist in the band. I grew up on the non-makeup era of KISS throughout the 80’s. I watched every video, listened to every album, studied every guitar part. To me, they weren’t just a band… they were THEE band.

So for Bruce to comment on — and even acknowledge — Space Frehley means more to me than I can really put into words.

For the past few weeks I have been trying to reach Neal Moser the man behind carving most of the Custom Hand Built BC Rich guitars to no avail.
I had a question. So, I ask Lita Ford if she could get him a message. Within minutes, I get a call back.

Me: Wow. That's all it took.

Neal: Well I figured you were standing next to a band saw getting ready to make cuts.

Me: Thanks Neal. Laughing.: well... Let's say I'm a little past getting ready. (Whirrr as saw shuts down with a sad worried tone) I'm trying to cut the angle on a Warlock style guitar edge and I am coming up with different specs. Can you tell me the angle and depth?

Neal: You're talking to a guy that took hand tools and carved each one individually. Put 10 next to each other and they all will be different. That's the beauty of a hand made guitar.

Me: well, I'm working with blah blah, machine and blah blah wood.

Neal: I never bothered with that factory stuff and imports. Go and take a look at a bunch of my guitars and figure out how you want it to look. I never had anything set, like 90 degrees or took a measure.

Me. I started by hand and I was at 90 but what is the depth. Can you take a look at this photo and see if it's close?

Neal: Yeah. That's good

Me: thank you sir,

Neal: you have my number if you need anything else

Me: an honor to speak with you sir.

We never know what we are gonna pull out of our hat at a Lita Ford Rockstar Guitar Experience. Lita decided to jam with the guitar buyer and his guests.

Since it's just her and I creating the guitars and anticipating each other's moves we come up with something on the spot to make each one different and unexpected.
