Hope you all enjoyed the Oscars last night. You got to see some winners at the Oscars in Onancock, including Best Picture! Congratulations to Jeanne Reynolds who picked One Battle After Another and her raffle ticket wins her 2 Season Passes to Onancock International Films next season - May through August.

Ready for 2nd Thursday after a wonderful weekend of Oscars in Onancock? This Thursday, 3/12 at 7 PM, come see Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. This film thrusts us into the tumultuous world of 8-year-old Bobo Fuller, whose childhood unfolds on her family's Rhodesian farm, now Zimbabwe as the Bush War rages to its bitter end. Seen through her eyes, we witness the family's attachment to Africa's soil and the deep, festering scars of a war that reshapes both land and soul. This film manages the difficult trick of getting us to care for the Fullers while saving our sympathy for the Zimbabweans. Tickets are $8 cash at the door.

We are excited to be bringing the Oscars to Onancock again with 4 Best Picture nominees being shown on Friday, March 6th, Saturday March 7th and Sunday March 8th at the Roseland Theatre. The event is spread over 3 days to allow you to take breaks by walking around town to shop in our sponsoring stores and eat in our sponsoring restaurants.

We’ll kick off the Oscars with a Red Carpet on Friday, March 6th at 7 showing Sinners, rated R. On Saturday, March 7th, we’ll show Marty Supreme, rated R at 2:30 and Hamnet, rated PG at 7. One Battle After Another, rated R will be at 1 on Sunday, March 8th

The movies are $10 cash at the door before each of the films. Better yet, we’ll be offering Oscar VIP Passes for $25 which allows you to see all 4 films and gets you special offers from our sponsoring restaurants and stores. Hi from Onancock International Films, part of RCEC, bringing screen events to the Eastern Shore, including 2nd Thursdays at the Roseland since 2005 and our 3rd Oscars in Onancock on March 6th, 7th and 8th.

The next second Thursday is February 12th. Come see Tina at 7 PM at the Roseland. We love movies from New Zealand! This is an uplifting and sincere mix of drama and comedy which takes a familiar “inspirational teacher” story into a moving celebration of Pacific Islander culture, resilience, and the healing power of music.

The rest of our season includes Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight from South Africa in March and Rental Family from Japan in April.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas so kick off the season with a choice of holiday movies.

First, on Thursday December 11th at 7, a gift to our Onancock International Films adult audience. We bring you Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House from 1948. As the Blandings leave a cramped city New York apartment for a house in Connecticut, it’s Goodbye Manhattan, Hello Comedy. While not really a Christmas movie, it stars Cary Grant and Myrna Loy and there is a Christmas tree.

On Sunday 12/14 at 3, we’ll show The Grinch from 2018. Based on Dr.Seuss’ classic, we see a cynical grump who starts out to steal Christmas only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous spirit. Funny and heartwarming for the whole family.

Thanks to Onancock Business and Civic Association, the Roseland Theater, The Blarney Stone and RCEC’s generous donors, both movies are free, including a popcorn/soda combo and candy canes.

Start the season with Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House on Thursday, December 11th at 7 for adults or The Grinch on Sunday, December 14th at 3 for families and children of all ages. Doors will open 30 minutes before the show. Start your holidays believing in happy endings. And it’s free.

Second Thursday is coming up on 11/13 so come to the Roseland Theatre at 7 PM for a fun evening with A Nice Indian Boy from the US. When Naveen attends his sister's wedding, family and friends insist that he is the next in line to get married. Six years later, when he brings his fiancé home to meet his traditional Indian family, they must accept his white-orphan-artist boyfriend and help them plan the Indian wedding of their dreams.

Expecting an easy ride, Tom discovers a divided nation and a class of unteachable students. Then he finds a penguin. This is a winning performance from Steve Coogan with a little help from a lovable pint-sized companion.
