The 40th Street Theatre

The 40th Street Theatre With both indoor and outdoor spaces, this venue is a well kept secret! It is our hope to restore the theatre to its former glory.

Originally a Vaudevile theatre, the historic 40th Street Theatre has been restored and is now a wonderful event space perfect for private events or live performances. The 40th Street Theatre origianlly opened as The Hamilton Street Theater in 1916, later changed to The Winn Theater in 1930 and finally The 40th Street Theater in 1946.Vaudeville and silent films were featured until films with sound

were introduced. Taking on a project of this magnitude takes an abundance of resources, many of which we do not have. We will not be having benefits to ask for monies. We will, however, ask you to donate your time and/ or materials. Our intention is for this theater to be the hub of the artisan community and available for all forms of artisan expression. It is in this spirit that we invite everyone who has a part or wants to be a part of creating something for everyone to enjoy. We believe great things can be accomplished when people come together to work towards a common goal.

The Stem Gallery just sent me flowers as a thank you for being pleasant and accommodating when they were setting up a wedding in the theatre last weekend! How very cool! Really, you would think it would always be that way amongst vendors who are trying to make a wedding successful for a bride and groom, but I suspect that’s not always the case, hence, the thank you flowers!! I think everyone was lucky for this particular wedding, as all the vendors, the wedding couple and their family members were all so very nice to work with!
Thank you Stem Gallery, Eddie's Catering, , Madison Photograpy and most of all Erin Makinson and Ethan Tylski for being such a cool couple!!

I have been conditioned to believe a lawn should look a certain way, but in order to get that look you have to use poison. I just can’t get myself to do that with all of the creatures who hang out in our courtyard. So, I have resigned myself to a few dandelions! Of course, I don’t have standard regular dandelions, I get the mutant extra large kind!

Congratulations to Vayda Kirshman and Colin Neary! It was such a pleasure to host your wedding, especially, for a couple who appreciates the “spooky” theatre as much as we do! You both are so kind, generous and, most importantly, unique individuals!! Don’t ever change and we wish you the happiest of lives for the future!!!
