Family-owned Business
Our family has lived in Newton since 1997. In October 2012, we had the opportunity to purchase Capitol II Theatre. With the help of wonderful community members, we were able to re-open the doors in November 2012. Earlier in 2012, we had also changed city ordinance to allow miniature pigs as pets. Joy MiniPig came into our lives in April 2012. Because of the long hours we spent at the theater, we brought our 6-month-old Joy along. The community volunteers and theater patrons fell in love with her. This led us to work with the State and USDA to allow Joy to hang out at the theater with us. Right inside the front doors, she has her own room where people can look at her through a glass door. On nice days, we take Joy on walks around the town square. We will also sometimes have her out in front of the theater performing tricks for theater patrons. Joy does have her days off, so she’s not at the theater every day. We welcome people to get in touch with us ahead of time if they want out-of-town guests to see Joy. If our schedule allows, we will happily make sure Joy is at the theater that day. - Dawn Bleeker, owner of Capitol II Theatre - Where every movie brings out Joy.
