If you’ve visited Tahqualand Theater, you’ve probably noticed the large projector on display in our entrance hall. But have you ever wondered what it is, how it worked, or what role it played in the history of the theater?

Now you can find out.

Our new website is becoming home to the Tahqualand Theater Collection — a growing collection of historic equipment, documents, photographs, and artifacts that help tell the story of nearly a century of moviegoing in Newberry.

We’re continuing to uncover, identify, preserve, and document pieces from the theater’s past, and we’ll be adding more exhibits as the collection grows.

Start with one of the largest pieces in the collection: our Simplex XL 35mm Projector.
