Today, we pause to reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor our heroic Brothers, Sisters and Kin who aided in the rescue efforts, and the memories of those we lost 25 years ago.

Reminder: Labor Day Rally today on Liberty Street in Manhattan!

This year, the New York City Central Labor Council is taking a different approach to its annual Labor Day celebration. Instead of the traditional Labor Day Parade, the CLC will host a Labor Rally and Parade on September 8 on Liberty Street in Manhattan, honoring the workers who helped our city recover in the aftermath of the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001.

Local 52 has a proud place in that history. Our members were among the first workers called to the World Trade Center site, working alongside the FDNY, NYPD, OEM, and countless other union brothers and sisters as New York began the difficult task of recovery and rebuilding.

We are especially proud that Brother Mahoney has been invited to speak at this year's event, representing not only Local 52 but all of the workers who answered the call during one of the darkest moments in our city's history.

This Labor Day, we celebrate the working people who make New York run and honor those who carried our city through its hardest days. As we mark 25 years since 9/11, we’ll pay special tribute to the workers who responded, helped New York recover and rebuild, and sacrificed so much in the years that followed.

Join us Tuesday, September 8 at 4:30pm on Liberty Street for Our City, Our Fight, Our Future.
