Sunday Film Series

Sunday Film Series Independent films- for the community, by the community! The Sunday Film Series, curated by Heather Freudenthal, is a showcase of independent films.

Despite the first year having all its screenings on Sundays, the Sunday Film Series is expanding and currently showing films on others days of the week as well! The Sunday Film Series is a showcase for local, independent filmmakers whose films provide thought-provoking content. The films in the series represent a myriad of genres and styles of filmmaking. It prides itself on not discriminating bet

ween documentary or narrative, drama or comedy, short or feature length, traditional or experiential styles; rather The Sunday Film Series' criteria for selection is that the films provide the audience with an engaging glimpse into characters and worlds which are under-seen in traditional film- wholly idiosyncratic and yet relatable. The Sunday Film Series allows a personal exchange between filmmaker and audience, with interactive Q & A’s with the filmmaker following each film, which provide invaluable insight to the audience, as well as necessary feedback for the filmmaker. The films and filmmakers honored by The Sunday Film Series represent a new kind of exposure for local films; for the community and by the community. All screenings are open to the public, they are free or have a small suggested donation, and seating is on a first come, first served basis!

I would be remiss not to remind you that CHEATIN', Bill Plympton's newest feature, is now playing in New York at Cinema Village East, but just until the end of this week. It will open up nationally after that. It's already being called the best animated feature of the year, with rave reviews from the New York Times, Indiwire, and many other accredited sources! I'm seeing it today, as you should be doing also.
