Friends and family,
Like a boxer's journey, filmmaking is often a solitary endeavor, involving the ex*****on of a single-minded vision. However, so many of you have stepped up to help with DON'T QUIT, CHAMP, that it has grown from a solitary endeavor into a community effort. Since “Don't Quit, Champ" is the Guyanese cheer for Lennox Blackmoore, I believe this story evokes that same spirit!
The film is a journey into Lennox’s life inside and out of the ring, and all the people he has inspired. It also includes the scope of the Guyanese community, Gleason’s Gym, male and female boxing, and immigration.
Lennox and I have been working on the film since 2019 and we are grateful to NYSCA for their generous grant, and to our fiscal sponsors, Fractured Atlas and the International Documentary Association. A special thanks to the owner of Gleason’s Gym Bruce Silverglade. We could not have gotten to this point without their help. And now I’m proud to say we have a 50-minute rough cut.
However, we need your help to finish DON’T QUIT, CHAMP. Your tax-deductible contribution will go toward finishing funds for music and footage rights, as well as equipment, animation, and post-production, and will be invaluable as we tell this meaningful story and reach people worldwide.
Our plan is to complete the film this summer and take DON’T QUIT, CHAMP on the festival circuit. Please join us on this journey!
