Pop in tomorrow from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM for Sunday Espresso Matinee! Enjoy some espresso and coffee drinks and catch classic films featuring Comedy Legends curated by New London Roaming Cinema. ā
Plus, we'll be working on the Growing Hope Project: Collaborative Zine! Everyone is welcome to help contribute to this community art project. Art supplies will be provided, or you can bring your own existing work to contribute! šØ
Here is the film lineup for this weekend:
11:00 AM | Steamboat Bill Jr (1928) starring Buster Keaton, Ernest Torrence. The film mixes Romeo & Juliet, father-son dynamics and famous storm scenes for an engaging, comic masterpiece.
12:10 PM | Mabel Normand Shorts: director/comedy star Mabelās Busy Day (1914), Mabel at the Wheel (1915) and Mabelās Married Life (1914) - AI colorized. 3 shorts starring Mabel Normand and Charlie Chaplin - Chaplin learned directing from Normand at Mack Sennett studios.
1:00 PM | The Circus (1928) Starring Charlie Chaplin and Merna Kennedy. The Tramp joins the circus and falls for an abused circus rider. Chaplin was awarded a āHonorary Oscarā for acting, writing, directing and producing āThe Circusā, because the academy decided that Chaplin shouldnāt be considered in the best film, best director or best writing (original story) categories.
2:10 PM | Animal Crackers (1930) stars Marx Brothers, Lillian Roth. The Marx Brothers 2nd sound film, based on Broadway musical by Kaufman & Ryskind. Capt Spaulding returns from his adventures, hijinks ensue.
