Film Club at The Hub

Film Club at The Hub A film club for/with/by young people in the New Brunswick community!

A club that uses the medium of film/video to build relationships, develop critical thinking, enable self-expression, discover & strengthen creative talents and skill-sets, and engage awareness about important issues in the community & society at large. ...Because if you don't make media, media makes YOU! Showings are scheduled Saturdays (4-7pm) at the Teen Center AT LEAST once per month, and ofte

n more! List of showings below**

Aside from showing (& producing) films at the Teen Center and around the community, we hope to coordinate field trips to film festivals or screenings at Rutgers University, New York City, Philadelphia, etc. Frequently, film showings will be coupled with local performers and/or guest speakers/presenters to tie the subjects & issues in the films to things going on right here in the community and the individuals & organizations that make them happen. The idea is to expose young people to anything and everything that might engage their interests and contribute to their growth!

What would you do with 1 trillion dollars- for yourself, your family and your community?
The IHTD Youth Film Festival asks young people to speak out on the federal budget and asks them to consider the $1 trillion spent yearly on the U.S. military ...the $1 trillion spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan ...the $1 trillion plus in tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. How does that compare to YOUR needs & priorities???

" In July of last summer, only 48.8% of youth ages 16-24 were employed in the United States. That left 4.1 million youth without jobs. Help build awareness for youth jobs by supporting this project: http://ow.ly/aPfqN "

For Baltimore youth, finding employment is difficult. D'Andre Guess and his team of producers wanted to know why this is and are creating a documentary to share their findings.

They need $3,500 by May 31st to finish their film.
