It's Sophie, y'all!

We used to think it was rare to find a dependable, punctual, kindhearted, funny high schooler that we could hand over our business to for an evening, but then we met Sophie 🤩 She's such a valuable member of the team here at The Bijou and I am so glad she agreed to work here after I approached HER about a year ago. (I have an eye for the good ones!)

You'll see her a ton this summer, along with Joey, Cooper, and Nathaniel. Thanks for helping us mentor these young people and prepare them for their next adventure when they graduate in 2027. I'm holding onto them with a white-knuckle grip for the next 12 months!

Meet Joey!

This creative soul joined us a few weeks ago, training alongside longtime rockstar employees Cooper and Sophie. If you come to The Sheep Detectives on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday you'll meet Joey (and see her artwork), and perhaps meet Nathaniel who also starts this weekend.

Occasionally the stars align and my whole family gets to sit down in the theater with you and your families, and we enjoy a movie together. Saturday evening was one of those moments, and can I just say that this is a core motherhood memory?!

THE SHEEP DETECTIVES brought forward all of the nostalgia of watching Babe, Charlottes Web, Homeward Bound, and Beethoven in the 1900s when I was young. It's such a good movie, made even better by watching in a full theater! There is a very sad moment amongst all of the joyfulness in the movie, which actually provides adults with a great opportunity to connect with children and discuss parts of the film. Please come see it - with or without kids. We'll be showing it through Memorial Day, so See You At The Bijou!

You all loved THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 so much that we decided to squeeze in two matinees this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Big thanks to our rad employee Sophie who happily agreed to work on Wednesday after the Lisbon CSD early out.

THE SHEEP DETECTIVES (rated PG) opens on Thursday evening and will run for a full two weeks at The Bijou. Make plans to bring the whole family to this delightful movie. See you at The Bijou 💙

Mount Vernon is collectively taking a well-deserved "sleep in" on Monday after an incredible weekend chalkin'. While we mop the floors, scrub all the things, and restock, take a look at our weekly showtimes and remaining weekend rental dates.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 will be showing on Wednesday-Sunday this week. We anticipate Sunday will be the last day, but if demand is there we may hold a few encore shows next week. This has been a FUN movie! Last week week saw friend groups, couples, and solo patrons all enjoying the movie together in a packed theater. We love this for you!

NORMAL (rated R) is playing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Today would be a great day to see a $6 matinee while the rain falls outside.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 (rated PG-13) begins on Thursday. We even have a Friday $6 matinee and later shows scheduled on Saturday so you can catch the movie after admiring the art at Chalk the Walk uptown!

Speaking of Chalk the Walk, we'll have an adorable red-and-white striped popcorn and kettle corn tent set up in the drive-thru area of (Mount Vernon Bank & Trust Company) on both Saturday and Sunday. Grab a red-and-white striped box of popcorn and add a scoop of candy on top to snack on while you enjoy the sunshine and art on 1st Street!
