There’s good friends and then there are friends that will drop what they’re doing in the pouring rain and help you herd pigs. It was a very Monday way to start the week. My boots were already filled with water when I found the entire herd of 30 pigs in a barn far from where they were supposed to be. I shared the news with my fellow farm girl Amy and was more than happy to have some help as I knew the feeders would be way too heavy for me to move solo and I was working by myself that day. I’m trying to be better at accepting help and many hands made light work. Praise the Lord for good friends!

Everyday is leg day in the farm. Yes, these can and do get moved with equipment sometimes, but most days I like to do things “the hard way.” There’s something about hard work and sunshine that makes me happy.

Transporting live animals safely can be a challenge. Over the years we’ve found that simple and quick gives us the best results. 5 years and not a single birds lost in transit so far. 🙌

Monday turkey moves. A little more on our system and Your nitro diving our PA turkeys. Birds are happiest and healthiest with regular movement.

Chilling in the shade of the woods with the pigs. It’s their favorite place to be and honestly, it’s always about 10 degrees cooler in here.

Now that the piggies are trained, it’s about time to start their rotation in the woods.

Sometimes I forget to slow down and hold her little hand, walk to check animals instead of drive, not to rush and “get it done.”
When the farm grew from a homestead to a full scale business with a dozen employees and year round sales, it’s taken conscious effort to slow down. With her older sisters now in their teens years, it’s easy to feel how fast it goes. Slow it down today, walk the fields or your neighborhood, drive the long way home. Happy Sunday, y’all.
