10/31/2021
It's that time of year again, the time where I can be my true self and it doesn't seem so weird. It's actually sort of accepted because the rest of the world is finally on the same level as me.
The rest of the world is also obsessed with jack-o-lanterns, scary movies and spooky makeup.
I'm not the only one searching for that unique decor piece (though I may be one of the few who entertain the idea of leaving it out all year).
I'm not the only one that says Christmas should wait it's turn - After October. Lol
But... after the 31st of October, the world turns its back. The rest of society starts the holiday jingles and pushes the importance of the perfect gift down our throats, a horrible pressure it is. I get left behind, gripping onto the memories of the month that has ended.
For most, Halloween is nothing more than a holiday. For me? It's much, much more. Halloween is not just a holiday. It is a lifestyle.
No, I am not saying I walk around with bats and ghosts hanging off of me, or have candy corn falling out of my ears. It's the feeling Halloween provides. The feeling of acceptance - the weirdo is seen. The monster is loved. The misunderstood is heard. The cooky flourish.
In a sense, I come back to life in Fall. When the leaves start to turn colors and fall to the ground is when I wake up and shine. It's when I am the most inspired and the most creative. It's simply who I am.
I hope to hold onto the spirit of Halloween instead of letting it blow away when the calender month changes. In my heart I know that Halloween and everything associated with it is a part of my soul, so why should I squash it? I am going to keep that feeling on the surface and apply it to the rest of the year.
Everyone knows I am the Halloween Queen (at least that is what I like to call myself). So why not put a bit of Halloween in everything else I do? Sprinkle it in here and there.
Maybe we'll take a crack at a creepy Christmas. A Naughty New Year. A Voodoo Valentine's Day...
If you are here, you know who I am. You know what I like. If you don't, you'll find out soon enough. Thank you for being here and accepting me for who I am. It means the world to me and I appreciate your support!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy lifestyle/holiday. ๐
