Twin Valley Players is excited to announce auditions for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street!

🎭 PRODUCTION NOTE
Sweeney Todd is a demanding production, both vocally and physically. We are seeking actors with strong physical awareness who move freely and make performance choices with specificity and confidence.
🎶 AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Please prepare 32 bars of a song (approximately one minute) in the style of the show and bring an audio track for accompaniment.
Backing tracks must be instrumental only — no vocals — and should be ready to play from your device at the audition.
Auditions will also include readings from the script using the appropriate accent for Sweeney Todd. Please come prepared to demonstrate your ability to work with the dialect and make strong character choices during the readings.
🩸 CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
SWEENEY TODD — Man, 35–65 | Baritone (F2–Gb4)
A wrongfully imprisoned barber seeking to right the wrongs committed against him. Johanna’s father and our tormented protagonist, singularly focused on bloody revenge.
MRS. LOVETT — Woman, 35–65 | Mezzo/Alto (G3–E5)
An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner who falls in love with Todd and turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture.
ANTHONY HOPE — Man, 20–30 | Tenor (Bb2–F4)
A naive and youthful sailor who helps Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna.
JOHANNA — Woman, 18–21 | Soprano (Bb3–A5)
A spirited young woman full of innocence who constantly yearns for freedom. Todd’s long-lost daughter and Judge Turpin’s ward.
TOBIAS RAGG — Any gender, 14–20 | Tenor (Bb2–Ab4)
A poor youngster apprenticed to Pirelli who finds a surrogate family in Todd and Lovett.
JUDGE TURPIN — Man, 50–70 | Bass/Baritone (E2–Gb4)
A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He abuses his position of power and is responsible for Todd’s imprisonment.
THE BEADLE — Man, 40–55 | Tenor (D3–D5)
A pompous public official who is deeply loyal to the corrupt Judge Turpin.
BEGGAR WOMAN — Woman, 35–65 | Mezzo-Soprano (Ab3–F5)
A deranged woman living on the streets of London who harbors a dark and surprising secret.
ADOLFO PIRELLI — Man, 30–45 | Tenor (B2–C5)
A flamboyant Italian rival barber and charlatan with a secret past.
JONAS FOGG — Man, 35–65
The owner of Fogg’s Asylum, who sells the hair of his patients to wigmakers.
ENSEMBLE — Various ages and genders
Townspeople, policemen, lunatics, customers, and other residents of Fleet Street. The ensemble plays an integral role in creating the world and atmosphere of the production.
