Enzian exists to entertain, inspire, educate, and connect the community through film. Surrounded by weeping oaks, a bubbling fountain, and a beautiful courtyard, Enzian is a unique movie-going experience. For more than 36 years Enzian has championed the belief that "Film Is Art." Along with first-run independent features, Enzian offers a variety of special events, such the nationally-recognized Fl

orida Film Festival. Founded by Tina Tiedtke and the Tiedtke family in 1985, Enzian began as a repertory house offering six to 12 classic films each week as well as the occasional live show (musician Philip Glass was one of the most notable bookings on Enzian's stage). By 1989, Enzian refocused and moved into the then-risky field of showing first-run independent features. Enzian was alone in the community in booking such films, but this bold transformation was a success. With strong support from regional film-lovers, Enzian now often reports the highest grosses in Florida for many art house releases. Adventurous programming, and a willingness to book self-distributed films, has garnered Enzian a national reputation as a trendsetting venue. Time and time again, Enzian has proven that even in a community as mainstream as Orlando, there is an audience hungry for new voices in independent film.

Come up to the lab and see what’s on the slab, as we celebrate the legacy of the dear Tim Curry with a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday, September 19 at 9:00pm.

It’s the ultimate midnight movie experience that’s been changing the lives of audiences for over 50 years, as sweethearts Brad Majors and Janet Weiss’ car troubles lead them into the rose-tinted world of Dr. Frank-N-Furter—a corset-clad Curry unveiling his latest creation: the perfect man (Oh, Rocky!). With its infectious soundtrack, over-the-top performances, and deliciously campy energy, Rocky Horror is a celebration of queerness, rebellion, and the joy of letting your freak flag fly.

Costumes encouraged, callbacks welcome, and part-ici-pation highly recommended (It’s just a jump to the left…). Tickets are on sale now at https://enzian.org/film/the-rocky-horror-picture-show

"On a night like this... there are no rules." Enzian Film Club celebrates 50 years of Mikey and Nicky with a 4K restoration screening on Saturday, September 12 at 11am.

Small-time mobster Nicky (John Cassavetes) is holed up in a fleabag motel after finding out the boss he stole money from has put a hit out on him. Terrified and with nowhere to run, he calls on Mikey (Peter Falk), his oldest friend and the one person he thinks can save him. But does Mikey actually want to help Nicky this time, or is he merely leading him to his doom?

Inspired by real-life figures from filmmaker Elaine May’s own childhood and anchored by electrifying performances from Cassavetes and Falk, Mikey and Nicky is a harrowing portrait of male friendship turned tragic and a masterpiece of American cinema.
