We are excited to partner with Asante Owusu-Brafi on a new series of screenings; The “Hauntologies”.

The “Hauntologies” film series is an eerie study of survival, connection, and cultural residue.
Reimagined through Mark Fisher’s adaptation of Jacques Derrida’s hauntology and the specter
of a collapsed timeline, this program treats sound, architecture, and image as instruments of
communication in a world mediated by machines. Films that realize echoes of what is gone yet
not past. The series traces how filmmakers from Tsai Ming-liang to Kelly Reichardt transform
dislocation, longing, and urban decay into messages from the future’s ruins. This aesthetic
vocabulary extends through examples of Wong Kar-wai’s neon melancholia, John Akomfrah’s
speculative futures, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s observations of drift and delay. Togetherthey articulate a world where time, history, and intimacy collapse into one another.

ICYMI: Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Willmott will be coming to Little Rock to host a discussion about his work as a screenwriter, director, and documentarian. 🎉🙌

“While most people know him now as a screenwriter with Spike Lee for such films as BlacKkKlansman or Da Five Bloods, his body of work as a film director reveals a truly provocative vision.
