‼️ MAYOR TREVIÑO JOINS LAREDO’S FIRST-EVER ALL-WOMEN’S RACE IN SUPPORT OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS ‼️

LAREDO, TX - Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño joined the community at North Central Park for Laredo’s first-ever all-women’s race in support of breast cancer awareness.

During the event, Treviño recognized participating women’s running clubs for their involvement and contributions to the Laredo community.

“As a physician, mayor, and runner, I am proud to support an event that honors survivors, stands with women undergoing treatment, and remembers those we have lost,” Treviño said.

The event also highlighted the importance of regular breast cancer screenings and access to care while bringing together survivors, families, runners, volunteers and community members.

Organizers thanked the volunteers, women’s running clubs and participants who helped make the inaugural event possible.

‼️BREAKING‼️ALYSSA CIGARROA MISSING FROM NEXT MAYORAL FORUM FOLLOWING ROUGH CHAMBER PERFORMANCE‼️

Laredo, TX - Mayoral candidate and former District 8 Councilwoman Alyssa Cigarroa was absent from Thursday’s mayoral forum at Laredo City Hall, following what some viewed as a rough performance at the Laredo Chamber of Commerce mayoral debate held at the Laredo Country Club.

Cigarroa participated in the Chamber debate alongside the other mayoral candidates, answering questions on several major issues facing Laredo as voters prepare to select the city’s next mayor.

However, Cigarroa did not appear for Thursday’s City Council forum, leaving the remaining candidates to take questions and present their positions without her on stage.

Her absence comes just one day after the Chamber debate, where Cigarroa visibly struggled during portions of the forum.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño, Alfonso “Poncho” Casso and J.D. Gonzalez attended Thursday’s City Hall-hosted mayoral forum, taking the stage and answering questions as Cigarroa remained absent.

‼️MAYOR TREVIÑO PRAISES FIRST RESPONDERS AFTER MASSIVE DOUBLETREE HOTEL FIRE‼️NO FATALITIES REPORTED‼️

Laredo, TX - Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño praised Laredo’s first responders Wednesday morning after more than 80 firefighters and 12 police officers responded to the major fire at the DoubleTree Hotel involving approximately 111 guests.

Despite the magnitude of the emergency, no fatalities have been reported, according to the Mayor’s Office.

Seven people were transported to local hospitals. Four were taken to Laredo Medical Center and three to Doctors Hospital, while officials worked to address the immediate needs of guests affected by the fire.

Treviño, who also serves as the city’s Emergency Management Director, said Laredo’s emergency protocols were activated and credited first responders with acting quickly to protect lives.

“Emergencies of this magnitude require preparation, coordination, leadership, and professionalism,” Treviño said. “Our emergency protocols were activated, and our first responders acted quickly to protect lives and address the immediate needs of those affected.”

Officials have also observed cracks in portions of the hotel. As a precaution, a drone is being used to help assess the building’s structural integrity and determine whether affected areas are safe.

Treviño thanked the more than 80 firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel, hospital staff and others involved in the large-scale response.

“Our priority remains the safety of our residents, visitors, guests, and first responders,” Treviño said.

The information remains preliminary as authorities continue investigating the fire and assessing the building.
