Prove that you have what it takes to shred the GNAR by coming to see GLEAMING THE CUBE at the Robin tonight at 8PM. Doors will open at 7PM for cold brew, snacks, hot D, and three underseen skate video gems that I archived. 101 Skateboard's WWII Report, Powell Peralta's Attack, and Simitar's Sk8hers. These are on YouTube but in what I would consider unwatchable quality. If there's an overarching theme in these videos it's "we've got a video toaster and we're NOT afraid to use it." For those who know what a video toaster is, it goes without saying, flashing light warning.

TONIGHT our showing of Point Break at 8PM is SOLD OUT! Don't forget we open up doors at 7PM and I captured Dolph Lundgren's workout tape, MAXIMUM POTENTIAL. This tape was heavily circulated in the gay community in the 80s and was deliberately shot by several softcore p**n producers to be a Dolph Lundgren thirst trap. You can also find Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary in the credits for their first Hollywood production as PAs. It's shot on 16mm, has a killer soundtrack and wacky voice over by Dolph. You aren't gonna see this in better quality than on our "big" screen at The Robin.

Also expect to get into THE SCONE ZONE and welcome in some cold brew coffee for the summer. For those who need to heat it up, we will still have HOT D and HOT TEA as you've come to know. Thanks as usual to for their sponsorship, and be sure to check out the q***r action specific trailer I cooked up for this month.

It's a beautiful Lansing day, top it off with getting your butt to see the wildest cats in town! 3 cats to be exact, tonight at 8PM begins our CAT III double header starting with NAKED KILLER. This is a totally fun flick (not like Blood Diner, don't be scared) so bring a friend along. Doors open at 7 where we'll be playing Jon Moritsugu's My Degeneration set to a playlist of Asian American indie rock acts of the 90s for the viiibes. Drip coffee and snacks from Strange Matter and I'll have new trailers to boot! Hope to see y'all tonight!

This month dip your toes into the LOVE Drug, E, XTC, or whatever other absurd name you can call it. A harmless slice of heaven or another way to pump up the prison industrial complex? Let's ask the movies. M**A has had a pretty fair representation in film from what I can tell. The movies for this month were chosen based on their accuracy in showing the wild ride of euphoria.
Come out to the Robin Theatre April 26th for a showing of 1999s GO, a stylish Hollywood drug ride with a stellar cast. We'll also be screening SHE SHOULDA SAID NO in our 7PM coffee hour. A ma*****na scare film we've set to a boppin' electronica soundtrack to celebrate our continued partnership with

Thanks to all you fantastic film freaks that showed up last night! It was so lovely to see so many returning club members and so many new faces. If you were new and you left asking "why is this little CREEP showing us this sexist TRASH?" I feel the need to address that a bit. I posted a pretty concise article about the film in the bio that does a good job summing up it's merits.

If you want to hear my take, I think the film is a really brilliant, scathing, and in-your-face call out against sexism. It rides this wild line of almost taunting you to laugh and then making you feel uncomfortable for doing so. It turns the sexism and violence up to 11 until it boils over into sheer absurdity, exposing that kind of real life behavior for its own absurdity. You can look to the cat-caller at the end of the film as caricature but it really isn't that far from real life. Satire is an amazing tool, but in the wrong hands can have the opposite effect of it's intended purpose. From the super insightful comments I heard last night and some of the good feedback I've gotten today I know I have nothing to worry about. It is my worst nightmare for someone to leave the Robin feeling bad, so I'll continue to do my best to let you know when we are watching something trashy or harsh.

We have some really awesome themes coming up in the next few months, and none of them are quite as harsh. Next month on April 26th we're screening the film GO and our theme is the drug Ecstasy and what Hollywood's agenda was with it. RSVP in the bio for that one.

Last call for all Lansing Horror-heads, just a few seats left for tonight's showing of BLOOD DINER at 8PM @ Robin Theatre! Ticket link in-bio.

Doors open at 7PM for siphon coffee and a RIOT GRRRL short film festival including I Was A Teenage Serial Killer, Dirty Girls, Lick The Star, Sleeping Beauties, and finally Skate Witches. We'll also have relevant VHS tapes for sale, stuff directed by women, strong female leads, "chick flicks" you name it. In new candy news, we have Uncle Anwar's eyeballs in a jar. You'll get the reference if you catch BLOOD DINER. Can't wait to see y'all!

This Wednesday at 8PM don't miss our showing of the outrageous and absurdist horror comedy BLOOD DINER! We have about 15 seats left. (Working) Link to RSVP is available in the bio.

If you wanna dive further into this month's theme I uploaded LAST EXIT TO PLANET EARTH, a weird VHS only sci-fi film by Katt Shea, to our YouTube account. As far as I can tell this is the only way to watch this, and the tape I captured it from was in excellent condition. The link to the YouTube is in the bio. You can also find THE LAST MAN ON PLANET EARTH on there as well, just in case you needed to live in a world where men are on the decline for a bit longer.

Here's the trailer for our theme this month, 3 Women in Genre Film. Hear quick little snippets from Jackie Kong, Rachel Talalay, and Katt Shea about their contributions to the respective genre and then check out TV Spots for the movies. I re-cut two of the ads with high quality video and used only the audio from YouTube. It's like doing a video jigsaw puzzle but I feel like it's worth it. If you want to check out these movies Tank Girl is available on Paramount Plus and The Rage: Carrie 2 is on Amazon Prime. Blood Diner is super unavailable so be sure to check out our showing of it at the Robin Theatre on March 22nd at 8PM. Tickets are available in the bio on a sliding scale. If you want to read me fumble trying to apply feminist film theory to Blood Diner you can also find an essay on this topic in the bio.
