Well friends, it's over.
We're officially all moved out. You can still get a copy of the second printing of the Fire House Series Finale zine here:

An excerpt from that zine:
"When we first moved into the Fire House, it was just a s**t hole on the west side of Lancaster. Stephanie and I had been trying to help build a DIY community in Lancaster for a few years by then, so when my band mates agreed to move in together we were excited to see where it would take us.
I originally intended to write a more detailed and self important expose on the experience of starting a DIY space, but instead I’ll be short and precise.
Living in a DIY space is one of the dumbest things I have ever done. Doing it as a Marxist idealist only compounded that bad idea.
Communal living requires so much intention, so much patience, so much understanding, so much compromise/collaboration/contribution....
I’ve lived in communal situations before, but never with as much ideological intention as the Fire House community set out for. Our goal was to figure out a way to live differently and bring more joy to the punk/DIY community. Despite all of the trials and tribulations, I think we achieved that. Some of the greatest memories of my life will be the joy and simplicity the Fire House brought into the world.
But it’s not worth it.
Those happy, sentimental moments are fleeting. The majority of the time at the Fire House was spent disagreeing about how life/society/people ought to be. So many people have come and gone; anyone who’s ever run a space knows what I’m talking about. Beneath the veneer of The Partridge Family you’ll find a group of people holding back the screams of a thousand annoyed roommates. The reoccurring question that pierces the depth of your mind everyday “why the hell do you keep doing this?”
Like I said, the Fire House is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. It was a lot of hard work that doesn’t pay off in any real material sense. But I’m going to do it again someday, because the things that make the world a better place are usually always bad ideas that most people don’t give a f**k about."
