For nearly as long as the motion picture has existed, filmmakers have been moved to make films that address, interrogate and most of all celebrate cinema. It’s with deep regard for this canon that we announce our new series for Fall 2026… MOVIE MOVIES: MOVIES ABOUT THE MOVIES!

This series will kick off in earnest on September 17. when we present musical showbiz classic SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN paired with new first-run documentary THE LAST PICTURE SHOWS, which travels to small-town cinemas throughought the American west surveying the state of the community moviehouse.

Other September titles include Joe Dante’s MATINEE (starring John Goodman as a gimmicky producer test-screening his newest B-movie), Richard Rush’s cult classic THE STUNT MAN (paired with new comedic biopic THE STUNT DRIVER), Billy Wilder’s gloriously dark SUNSET BOULEVARD, and a $5 screening of Abbas Kiarostami’s masterpiece CLOSE-UP presented by UT’s Denbo Center for Humanities and the Arts.

We’d also be remiss not to mention that our ongoing engagement of TEENAGE S*X AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA (now through 9/10) offers a handy prelude to the series, which will continue through the end of the year. Stay tuned... there's plenty more to come!
