We're excited to announce the first part of our program this year: a special program event at FilmScene !

A Hannah Bonner x ICDOCS collab:
'A' is for Another Woman

Join us for an afternoon of experimental shorts, programmed by Hannah Bonner in collaboration with the Iowa City International Documentary Film Festival.

The showcase will feature films from Ayanna Dozier, Alexandra Cuesta, and Amy Halpern. After the screening join us for a Q&A with the author of Film Elegy, poet Laura Paul, and Ayanna Dozier (via Zoom).

In "'A' is for Another Woman," writer Hannah Bonner brings together two disparate filmmakers that are neither linked by formal concerns, nor themes. Therefore, this program is a capacious approach to, and exploration of, women as actresses, symbols, classes, or figures. By reveling in multiplicities, "'A' is for Another Woman" seeks to broaden, rather than narrow, the vexed appellation of "woman."

Cinematic Arts, together with Iowa City International Documentary Film Festival (ICDOCS) and Bijou Film Board, present Permutations of Light, an afternoon with renowned experimental filmmaker Larry Gottheim. This screening will include the world premiere of his new film A Private Room. November 17th, 4pm, at FilmScene.
