Nosferatu! Great flick!

By far my favorite film by Eggers to date. The filmmaking is immaculate. Unfortunately, I didn’t really feel emotionally invested in the characters, especially Hoult, who I truly didn’t care whether he lived or died. There’s also a couple scenes I would cut to arguably painlessly shorten the r...

It’s been kind of dry at the theatres the past couple weeks… so here’s a review of a streaming Netflix movie:

Very entertaining. It maybe moves a little too fast narratively and plot-wise for its own good, but that’s not the primary focus of the film. It’s also a pretty derivative, but never a complete rip-off of anything. Still, very exciting film, with excellent performances from the villains, and a s...

Possibly Clint Eastwood’s last directed film…hope not though, especially if he keeps pumping projects like this out.

Possibly Clint Eastwood’s last directed film…hope not though, especially if he keeps pumping projects like this out.

Remnant of a bygone era of 90s Eastwood crime thriller movies, for better or worse. I particularly have a soft spot in my heart for the tone and aesthetic of those films so this often worked for me, even if the dialogue was regularly suspect, and the story had gaping plot holes. Even so, it kept me....

What a mess. But at least it was a fun mess?

As expected, it’s a trashy, totally jumbled mess of fun. I liked it, but truthfully it’s pretty bad.

Transformers and Wild Robot…2 great options for families (or anyone for that matter) are in theaters right now! Both are worth seeing on the big screen. Wild Robot review below:

Very good. Gloriously animated, voiced, and has a powerful message. The final climax is pointless, and even though the movie acknowledges this, it still doesn’t absolve the flaw.

Watched a terrifically disgusting movie on my birthday this past week. Not for the faint of heart. Here is my review:

Don’t get me wrong, this is a very well made movie from a technical standpoint. People will be talking about Demi Moore’s performance and I think that she is completely worthy of the buzz. I just didn’t enjoy much of it at all, and it’s simply not my kind of movie. Very unlikable characters,...

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was fun, even if it wasn’t great. Here’s my review:

It checks off a lot of boxes for me, even if it’s pretty bad at times. There’s so much I enjoy about Burton’s old films that are refreshingly present again on this outing. Many flaws keep this from being great. It’s fine, plus my personal bias made it very enjoyable for me, at least after fi...

I didn’t make it to theatres for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice this weekend, but I caught a solid movie called “Rebel Ridge” on Netflix. Here’s my short spoiler-free review:

A former Marine confronts corruption in a small town when local law enforcement unjustly seizes the bag of cash he needs to post his cousin's bail.

Saw this movie a little while ago. Loved it. Check it out!

Saw “Blink Twice” over the weekend. Not for the faint of heart. Here is my spoiler free review!

Many highs, many lows, “Blink Twice” is overall a solid start for Kravitz behind the camera. Ackie was very good, but couldn’t help being swallowed up by scene stealing performances around her from Arjona and a career-high Channing Tatum. Shot and edited extremely well. The writing had many mo...
