Returning to the provincial Italy of his youth, Federico Fellini blends memory and fantasy to craft a vivid satirical portrait of Rimini during the fascist period. Following young Titta (Bruno Zanin) as he watches various local eccentrics, from his extended family to Fascist loyalists to sensual women, as they engage in often absurd behavior.Enhanced by Nino Rota’s unforgettable score, Amarcord is a richly imaginative and deeply personal masterpiece that would take home the Academy Award for Best International Feature (Fellini’s fourth). International Classics - Fellini’s AMARCORD (1973) - Sunday, August 30th at 2:15 PM! Tickets: https://cinemaartscentre.org/shows/fellinis-amarcord

Today, the world lost one of its most unforgettable performers. With his unmistakable voice, wicked sense of humor, and magnetic presence, Tim Curry created characters that became permanently etched into popular culture.

From the iconic Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show to unforgettable turns in Clue, It, and countless films, television shows, and stage productions, Curry was truly one of a kind.

Today, we celebrate an actor, singer, and performer whose work will continue to entertain, delight, and inspire generations.

RIP Tim Curry (1946–2026)

One of the most influential films of the 2000s, Takashi Miike’s visceral, bloody, and often hilarious film follows Kakihara (Tadanobu Asano), a notoriously sadistic yakuza enforcer whose search for his boss' killer brings him into the orbit of a demented costumed assassin known as Ichi (Nao Omori). Today, the world lost one of its most beloved and unmistakable voices. From the aching beauty of “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” to the irresistible spirit of “9 to 5,” Dolly Parton brought wit, honesty, warmth, and an extraordinary gift for storytelling to everything she created. She was the rare artist who became larger than life without ever losing the humanity that made generations of people love her.

Her legacy reached far beyond country music. On screen, she brought that same singular presence to films like 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias, while away from the spotlight, her generosity and lifelong philanthropy made an impact measured in millions of lives.

Today, we celebrate a songwriter, performer, actress, philanthropist, and American icon whose music will continue to be sung, covered, rediscovered, and loved for generations.

RIP Dolly Parton (1946–2026)

In a post-apocalyptic world, the human population has been reduced to a few starving groups. Two loners (Giancarlo Prete & Fred Williamson) help protect a group of pilgrims from a ruthless gang known as the Templars who are intent on exterminating everyone left and purging the earth. The finale of Italian exploitation master Enzo Castellari’s apocalyptic film trilogy, this Mad Max knockoff delivers motorcycle chases, flamethrower battles, and ultraviolence with energy, blending Mad Max-inspired chaos with Castellari’s signature slow motion and operatic action style into one of the wildest sci-fi films of the 1980s.
Enzo Castellari: The Godfather of Knockoffs THE NEW BARBARIANS (Warriors of the Wasteland) (1983) - Wednesday, August 26th at 7:30 PM. With post film discussion hosted by Vincenzo Selleri, professor at Farmingdale State College

Join filmmaker Kent Jones in person for a screening of his new film LATE FAME, starring Willem Dafoe Friday, August 28 at 7 PM! Tickets: https://cinemaartscentre.org/shows/late-fame-with-filmmaker-kent-jones-in-person

The great Willem Dafoe lends his delicate gravitas to the role of Ed Saxberger, a forgotten New York poet who works in the post office. After an eager and flattering young admirer (Edmund Donovan) appears on his doorstep, Saxberger is beckoned into a coterie of twentysomething admirers who anoint him as a rediscovered genius. Intoxicated by the attention — and by the alluring presence of Gloria, the group’s “tragic heroine” (a sinuous, Kurt Weill–crooning Greta Lee) — Saxberger gradually reckons with the authenticity of his newfound poetic circle. This thoughtful, witty second feature from Kent Jones (Diane), working from a sly and hugely entertaining script by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Samy Burch (May December), is a wistful yet unromantic look at a lost idea of downtown New York.
