Oliver Stone’s epic portrait of one of the charismatic front man of the psychedelic rock group The Doors chronicles the turbulent life and career of singer Jim Morrison (Val Kilmer), whose poetic mystique made him one of rock music’s most enduring cultural icons. Following the band’s rise from the clubs of Los Angeles to international fame, the film explores Morrison’s electrifying stage persona and increasingly self-destructive lifestyle during the height of the 1960s counterculture. Meg Ryan, Kyle MacLachlan, Frank Whaley, Kevin Dillon, and Billy Idol also star.
THE DOORS (1991) - Screening for our Cult Cafe Oliver Stone Retrospective Saturday, July 25th at 9:30 PM. Tickets: https://ln.run/TheDoors

The live theater capture of the hit musical Hadestown, which won eight Tony Awards in 2019 including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, featuring the five original principals of the Broadway company. The genre-defying musical blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale. Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone —Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.
Hadestown: The Musical - screening for ONE WEEK ONLY starting Thursday, Jul 23!

This scintillating screen version of Mozart’s beloved opera showcases Ingmar Bergman’s deep knowledge of music. Casting some of Europe’s finest soloists, the director lovingly recreated the baroque theater of Sweden’s Drottningholm Palace to stage the story of the prince Tamino and his zestful sidekick Papageno, who are sent on a mission to save a beautiful princess from the clutches of evil. A celebration of love and forgiveness that exhibits a profound appreciation for the artifice and spectacle of the theater, The Magic Flute is among the most exquisite opera films ever made. Ingmar Bergman’s The Magic Flute (1975) - screening for our International Classics series, Sunday, July 19th at 2 PM. Tickets: https://ln.run/TheMagicFluteCAC

Adapted from Peter Handke’s Nobel Prize winning novel, Wim Wenders’ Venice Fipresci Prize-winning feature crosses Hitchcock with Kafka for an arresting study of existential boredom, violence, and the lure of American culture in postwar Europe. After he is ejected from a game in Vienna, disaffected soccer goalie Joseph Bloch (Arthur Brauss) wanders aimlessly through the city, seemingly detached from everything around him—until an encounter with a cinema cashier (Erika Pluhar) takes a dark turn. Presented with the German Film Office - Wim Wenders' THE GOALIE'S ANXIETY AT THE PENALTY KICK (1972) - Wednesday, July 15th at 7:30 PM

Today, cinema lost one of its most enduring and unforgettable presences. From the awe and wonder of Jurassic Park to the psychological terror of Possession and the cosmic horror of In the Mouth of Madness, Sam Neill brought intelligence, humanity, and quiet gravitas to every role he inhabited. He was the kind of actor who could make the extraordinary feel completely real.

Today, we celebrate a career defined by remarkable range, unwavering authenticity, and performances that will continue to captivate audiences for generations.

RIP Sam Neill (1947–2026)
