The Breadwinner opens May 29th at The Plaza Theatre of Humboldt

The family comedy film follows Nate Wilcox (Nate Bargatze), a successful car salesman who is forced to become a stay-at-home dad. His life shifts when his wife Katie (Mandy Moore) lands a deal on Shark Tank for her children's organizational accessory and leaves on an extended business trip.

Left in charge of their comically chaotic household and three daughters, Nate discovers that running the house and keeping the kids from driving him crazy is the toughest gig he’s ever had.

Along the way, Nate attempts to navigate everything from school pick-ups to domestic blunders, ultimately learning to manage it all his own way.

Directed by Eric Appel and co-written by Bargatze and Dan Lagana, the film also features a supporting cast that includes Colin Jost, Kumail Nanjiani, and Will Forte.

Backrooms opening Friday, May 29th at The Plaza Theatre of Humboldt

The Backrooms is a surreal, psychological horror film about a troubled man who discovers a hidden, interdimensional maze behind reality. It centers on the "Backrooms"—an endless, disorienting labyrinth of empty, acid-yellow offices, buzzing fluorescent lights, and liminal space.

The story follows Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a deeply unhappy man struggling with the ruins of his personal life, who stumbles into the Backrooms from the basement of his pirate-themed furniture store.

Seeking an outlet, he tells his therapist, Dr. Mary Kline (Renate Reinsve), about the alternate dimension. This leads to her following him into the anomaly and getting trapped in the maze alongside him.

More than just a monster-in-the-dark movie, the Backrooms is an existential nightmare. It feeds on the psychological trauma of its victims, warping reality, trapping people inside their own memories, and forcing them to navigate architecture that breaks all the laws of physics.

The movie is a feature adaptation of the wildly popular YouTube found-footage series by Kane Parsons who also directed the film.

That They May Be One. Showing Tuesday May 19th at 4 pm and 7 pm and Wednesday May 20th at 4 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are $6 matinee and $9 evening.

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus prayed a prayer that still echoes across the Church today: “That they may all be one.” (John 17)

Featuring Francis Chan and Christian leaders from across denominations, That They May Be One is a powerful docudrama exploring how the Holy Spirit has been quietly working across generations to answer that prayer.

Through compelling testimony, historical insight, and dramatic reenactments of Pentecost and Jesus’ prayer in John 17, the film reveals the Holy Spirit’s work across denominational lines - calling the Church to renewal, awakening, and unity.

That They May Be One is more than a documentary - it’s an invitation to rediscover the Spirit who is still moving today.
