A ship engine failed and no one could fix it, so they brought in a guy with 40 years experience.

He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

After looking things over, the guy reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer.

He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine burst back into life.

The engine was fixed!

7 Days later the owners got his bill for $10,000.

"What?!" the owners said. "You hardly did anything. Send us an itemised bill."

The reply simply said:
Tapping with a hammer: $2
Knowing where to tap: $9,998

Don't ever underestimate experience.

There were wobbly compression fittings on the rotten pipes in the dumpster room. When I started replacing them I found that there was a rusted out part of the galvanized pipe a few feet back under the floor in the room behind it.It was running water under the floor. I had to dig up the floor and run new pipe underneath then re-do the pipes on the wall. I even put up a steel bumper to protect the new pipes from being hit with the dumpster. No more $2000 water bills for these guys.

This woman has a condo in Hollywood. The small original breaker box was behind the fridge and way overloaded, so she wanted it flipped around to access from the hallway and I upgraded to a full size panel. She was so happy. She said that's bothered her for 20 years.
