During The 84th Annual Holly Springs Pilgrimage, the HSGC invites residents and visitors alike to enjoy a special evening under the stars at “Screen on the Green.”

The event will take place Friday, April 17, on the stately grounds of Montrose, offering guests a relaxed and memorable community gathering during one of the town’s most cherished traditions.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and settle in on the beautiful lawn for a big-screen outdoor showing of the film Cookie’s Fortune, the 1999 movie filmed in Holly Springs and starring Glenn Close and Julianne Moore. The film, which highlights the charm and character of the town, has long been a favorite among locals and visitors.

“Screen on the Green” holds special significance for the Tour of Homes, as the first event was held in 2010 and featured the very same film. The return of Cookie’s Fortune for this year’s gathering offers a nostalgic nod to that inaugural evening and celebrates Holly Springs’ unique place in film history.

The Holly Springs Garden Club will provide concessions for the event, including home-cooked Southern fare and refreshing beverages, ensuring guests can enjoy a true taste of Southern hospitality while they watch the film.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of historic Montrose, “Screen on the Green” promises to be a delightful evening of community, cinema, and tradition.

The event opens at 5 pm with the film beginning at dusk. You can purchase tickets online by visiting our website - https://www.hollyspringsgardenclub.com/event-details/2026-pilgrimage-event-tickets.

Business Owners: If you'd like an ad placed on the big screen during our Screen on the Green event, now is the time to let us know! Ad space is limited. The cost of an ad is $25 per 15 seconds. So your screen could run for a full minute for $100 or run four separate times. Minimum is one $25 ad. We will design your ad and you will have full approval before it screens.

This event is always fun an...d draws 100-150 locals every year. We plan on even more attendees this year as it is our second time to host the Kudzu 5K! We always have lovely feedback from the ad reel and these sponsorships keep the event FREE to the public! This is a great and inexpensive way to help support Pilgrimage! Contact us for more information!

Smokey trivia of the day:
"Smokey" was one of the inspirations for the popular TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard." In fact, three of its stars had had bit parts in "Smokey": John Schneider (Bo Duke) had been a cowboy extra, Ben Jones (Cooter) had played a trucker, and Sonny Shroyer (Deputy Enos) had served as a motorcycle cop.
