Yes, it is true. Every once in a blue moon, we will burn a batch of popcorn… At least we have Owen to blame it on!

We are pleased to announce a revolutionary new movie-going option from Jack and Owen Draper called “Mommy Needs a Minute Childcare Services”. Here’s how it works:

Come to the theatre, simply drop your child off with Jack and Owen at the door, and enjoy a movie all by yourself at the Orpheum or Grand! Remember what it was like when you used to be able to go to a movie and just enjoy it without being interrupted with 4,000 questions all throughout, multiple trips to the bathroom (only to find out the little sq**rt didn’t really have to go, they just wanted to see the candy selection), or having to leave because your kid ate and drank their snacks way too fast and puked all over? Well, now you can relive those carefree movie nights once more! With Jack and Owen’s “Mommy Needs a Minute Childcare Services”, they promise to make sure your child is well taken care of and returned to you in one piece after the movie. If you should happen to leave the theatre after having an amazing and relaxing time only to forget that you had brought your little rugrat, fear not! Jack and Owen are licensed drivers and will be more than willing to drive your little pop-tart home. Still not sold on it? The numbers speak for themselves… In trial runs, they had a 93% success rate of reuniting the child with their parent! That’s nearly a perfect score!

Maybe you’re wanting to laugh with “The Breadwinner”, get lost in a galaxy far far away with “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, or enjoy a good old-fashioned “whodunnit?” mystery with “The Sheep Detectives”, whatever it may be, just relax, enjoy the movie, and know that your child is in somewhat capable hands.

*License pending. Also, please don’t be alarmed if you come to pick up your child after the movie and they’re all alone. Jack is probably just in the bathroom and Owen has a tendency to disappear at times, but never for longer that 10 minutes.

Today, Endi and I were discussing the important issues of life and the subject of food in a movie theatre came up. Endi loves to eat while watching movies. I've always been a bit more skeptical.

Cary and I are thinking about allowing food to be brought into our theatre on certain nights as an experiment. We are even thinking about allowing Door Dash to deliver. We haven't decided anything yet but we would like to hear some feedback.

I received a text from Jack this afternoon asking me if I could meet him down at the Orpheum after he got off of work at Capri Markets because he had something special he wanted to give me. I LOVE surprises! Upon arriving to the theatre he held up a loaf of bread and said “Congratulations Cary, you win this loaf of bread that I picked up after I got off of work at Capri Markets, where I also work, and which of course used to be called IGA before we changed our name to Capri Markets last year and got a new logo and t-shirts. I know The Breadwinner is a movie starring the funny and hilarious Nate Bargatze that we’re opening this Thursday night at the beautiful Grand Theatre that is going to be crazy busy, and wanted to celebrate by giving you a loaf of bread for being so good and kind to my brother Owen and I these past four and half years that we’ve been working with you and your dad and the entire Eisentraut family, except for your sister Maddie and her husband Chris who I know live in Iowa and run the movie theatres there, and your sister Bailey who I know runs Black Rabbit with her husband Isaac.”

I didn’t know what to say, and I questioned whether or or not he knew what the term “Breadwinner” actually meant, but I kept that question to myself, smiled, and said “Thanks Jack!”

Owen and I were blessed beyond measure with the opportunity to meet The Mandalorian last night, as evidenced by the shocked look on Owen’s face. Upon meeting our hero, Owen kept asking “Where’s the child?” And stating “This is the way” over and over again, to which the Mandalorian politely and silently kept shrugging and nodding to his repeated question and statement. After Owen’s 6th inquiry as to where the missing “child” was, our hero appeared finally exhausted by the encounter, then proceeded to run down the block and around the corner, never to be seen again. ***To whoever was in the Mandalorian costume last night- Should you happen to see this post, you left your “Hello Kitty” coin purse behind when you ran away. We will keep it at the boxoffice for you to pick up. We have matinees today at 4:00 and 7:00. If you can’t make it today, we are also open on Memorial Day with shows at 4:00 and 7:00. We promise to keep it safe and tucked away until you return to pick it up.
