ANIMATORS! International Animation Day!
International Animation Day occurs Oct 28 every year. For over 15 years ASIFA International has supported the spirit of animation by exchanging films expressing the creative imagination that only animation can provide. In over 30 countries around the world, ASIFA coordinates an exchange of member films offering a moment for us all to celebrate the art of movement. The goal of IAD is to provide inspiration for our common shared artistic goals and for one day, come together as a planet. If you are interested in the opportunity to be part of this event, see below:

Submission Rules:

-Must be in good standing. (ASIFA dues paid)
-Film needs to have been made between January, 1 2015 – August, 2017
-Short film must be less then 10 minutes in length.
-Please, only one submission per animator.
-Submission Deadline: Sept. 22
-By submitting a film, the film maker declares that they have legal permission to use all materials in the film for the purposes of international screening limited to the International Animation Day event.
-Size and Dimensions: Films can range in size from: 1920X1080 - 1280X720 NTSC, Video Compression: H264. Pixel Ratio: Square Pixels.

There is no guarantee that your film will be shown in any particular country, we will do our best to communicate what countries or chapters show your work and the quantity of participants.

FRIDAY is INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION DAY! Celebrate in two locations this year with ASIFA Central, Grand Rapids Michigan at Kendall College of Art and Design and at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. 7:00pm (both locations)

Webster Location: Sverdrup Hall room 101
Kendall Location: Pearl Street Building (WNF) room 217

Oct 28th is International Animation Day! Come celebrate with ASIFA Central as we show a variety of international animation. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Showings will be happening this year in Grand Rapids, MI and at Webster University St. Louis, Missouri. As more venue opportunities open we will be posting them.

Grand Rapids will happen on Oct 28 at 7:00pm at Kendall College of Art and Design in the WNF Building on Pearl and Ottawa.

Free Animation Showing for International Animation Day!

Come celebrate with the Central Chapter of the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (ASIFA) on October 28, 2015 in Grand Rapids, Michigan as we feature a selection of animation from around the world. Once a year, ASIFA chapter members share their animation works with each other in a celebration of movement and the diverse forms that animation takes.

See work from China, Australia, the U.S.A., Poland, Greece and more. Some of it not available anywhere else!

Tonight: Come hang out with animators!

Grand Rapids at the Wealthy Theatre, doors open at 6:00. It's free and there will be a showing of the International Animation Day films at 7:00. Just mention ASIFA to get in free. Just a reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday is IAD at Kendall College in Grand Rapids, MI and at Webster College in St. Louis MO. It's going to be amazing with films from Portugal, USA, China, and Australia. Including Indigenous Australian filmmakers.

I'm just getting together the incredible animation that we will be showing this coming Tuesday, Oct. 28th at KCAD in the WNF building on 217 Pearl Street in Grand Rapids. and in St. Louis MO at the Wini-Moore Auditorium.
