Alan's Story: "Age-appropriate" memory concerns
I always appreciated the fact that Shaklee researches every product using a double blind protocol and will not manufacture a product they cannot stand behind. Their forward thinking vision has them on the cutting edge of science, not just trying to keep up with the latest fads.
With that said, when Shaklee announces a new product, I pay close attention. When Shaklee released Mind Works I thoroughly read through the information given and separately researched the listed ingredients. It sounded good, I knew the quality was good, but I won't order anything out of curiosity. I need to see results. Well, my wife and I saw the results this past Christmas when we visited mom in Hendersonville.
We have been trying to encourage her to move in to assisted living, because at 90 years of age with some "age appropriate" memory concerns, we wanted her to be safe. She has been having home health care for some time and the hours have been gradually increased to 6 hours, 5 days a week. A very expensive undertaking! Within the first hour of our arrival we noticed a completely different mom! In the past, last July for example, she was tired late in the day and her memory issues were more evident. Her Dr. was concerned about her lack of appetite and she had lost weight. She had also lost interest in many things she always loved to do like read and play the piano. Going out was too much trouble and she had quit walking completely.
At Christmas, we were greeted with a pot of home made soup and a bright eyed, energetic 90 year old excited about sharing her week with us. At supper, she was pleasantly talkative and wanted to tell us all the things she had been up to. She recalled with clarity many things that had happened in Hendersonville since our last visit. She played the piano each day and actually went for short walks with us. Her back still bothers her, but her desire to go was an obvious change along with her willingness to do what she could. She has her spark back! We went out to eat a couple times and she had a list of places she needed to go while we were out. She had clipped some recipes from magazines and wanted to try them if we had time.
I asked her if her Dr. had changed any of her medications and he had not. The only change was the addition of Shaklee Mind Works. She had been taking it regularly and even said she had run out and needed to get more because she didn't feel as good as she did while taking it. She has more now, as does my older sister from Vermont who leaves tomorrow morning after a visit. She purchased her own bottle solely based on the difference she saw in mom. My sister said many of mom's friends at church have commented on the positive changes they have noticed in mom recently. I am no longer curious because I have seen the results! I will be adding Mind Works to our next Shaklee order.
One other note. We have contacted the local Home Health Care business and communicated our desire to reduce their hours because of mom's amazing improvement. If Mind Works is the reason for these positive changes, and we believe it is, this alone will save mom over $300/week. She needs companionship, not a baby sitter.
