🔥 HydroDipping vs Real Wood — Can You Tell the Difference?
When this client came to LuxeArt, he wanted the interior pieces of his classic Mustang to match his Padauk African wood trim.
Sounds simple… but Padauk is a very specific wood.
It has:
• Deep red tones
• Copper undertones
• Dark grain lines
• A natural color shift depending on light
So we didn’t just grab a film and dip it.
We went through multiple color tests — reds, browns, copper blends, and grain variations — until we created a finish that visually matched the real wood already in the car.
The result?
A hydrographic wood grain finish that blends seamlessly with the genuine Padauk trim on the doors, console, and stereo bezel.
Most people assume hydro dipping is just patterns…
But when done correctly, it becomes a precision finishing process capable of replicating exotic materials.
✔ Consistent grain
✔ Seamless interior integration
✔ Durable automotive clear coat
✔ Fully customizable color tone
This project is a perfect example of the creative potential of hydrographics when craftsmanship and patience are involved.
And yes… the two pieces you see installed are hydro dipped — not wood.
