WE ARE HIRING!
Installation Technician
Virginia Installations, Inc. is a locally owned and operated building contractor specializing in finished installation of closet shelving, door hardware, bathroom accessories, mirrors, and shower glass enclosures. We work with many general contractors and homeowners to design, source, and install materials in these various product lines to make homes beautiful, comfortable, and functional.
Our work takes us all over Rockingham, Augusta, Page, Greene, and Nelson Counties. Installation Technicians, also referred to as installers, work out of our office and warehouse location in Elkton, Virginia. Installers drive to the designated location with the materials needed and use hand tools and power tools to install these materials. At the end of the day, or once installation is completed, installers return to our offices to turn in paperwork and company vehicles as necessary.
This is a full-time role. Hours for installation technicians are Monday to Friday, between 7 AM and 5 PM. Frequently, installers finish the day earlier than that. Installers are expected to start their day at our warehouse/office location, unless plans are made in advance to travel to the job site directly from their home. It might be in the installer’s interest to live no further than 30-40 minute drive from Elkton.
Candidates for this role need to be goal-oriented with strong organization skills who want to work mostly indoors in residential and light commercial settings. They must be well-acquainted with hand and power tools and be able to read and follow instructions. A systematic and methodical approach to installation of our products is directly related to one’s success. It’s more efficient to be conscientious and thorough than fast. The physical aspects of this work require enough flexibility to work on the floor or overhead on a step-ladder. Installers are required to be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Candidates for this role must be mentally resilient, able to make intelligent choices that align with company procedures and values when encountering delays or difficulty. Having an aptitude for assessing the challenge, mapping out a plan, and executing that plan is critical. Our installers solve problems. They need to be good communicators when working with each other, the contractors, the homeowners, and other subcontractors. Our installers are patient but driven to accomplish their task. They are good managers of their time. They will need to have a working smartphone, but not be distracted by it. They need to have a good driving record so they can be listed as a driver on our company insurance policy and be able to drive our company vans. They also need dependable transportation to and from the office. They need to be comfortable learning new technology and skills as our company grows and adapts to market needs.
Our installers must be individuals of high personal integrity. They will be entrusted by our company and our clients with a significant amount of autonomy and responsibility. Honesty, courtesy, and respect for others is expected of all our team members. Profanity and recreational drug use on the job is not permitted.
Installation Technicians are paid a minimum of $18/hour or more, based on experience, and can expect overtime pay of 1.5 times their hourly rate for any hours over 40 per week. Payroll is biweekly.
Virginia Installations provides full-time employees an accrued 1 week paid vacation, 6 paid federal holidays, and the opportunity to invest in a company retirement program.
