FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE YARD SALE TODAY:

We do not have ANY of the classic statues that were shown on the WAND page. This is a yard sale consisting of 90% movies with a small handful of other decor as well but NONE of the statues shown on WAND are for sale. As we were forced to give up the keys very quickly we hardly were able to salvage anything from the theater. Come on by if you are interested in finding your new favorite movie in good old physical media format!

Saturday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

🎞️ What’s being sold?
This collection belonged to Skip, a lifelong movie fan and collector. You’ll find:

Hundreds of movies on Blu-ray and DVD—from early silent films to today’s blockbusters

A select few Movie posters, Collectible figures and Wall decorations perfect for any movie fan’s space

💬 Why are we selling?
As much as we’d love to keep it all, we just don’t have the space. We’re hoping these treasures find new homes with fellow movie lovers.

💵 How can you pay?
We’re accepting cash only, and nothing larger than a $20, please.
If you're buying just a few things, we'd really appreciate small bills to help keep things running smoothly.

Join us for a special one-day sale this Saturday April 26 from 9am-2pm honoring Skip and the Avon Theater. We're opening up his treasured collection of movies, movie memorabilia, and Avon keepsakes – a reflection of his lifelong passion for film and our beloved theater.

All are welcome. Come browse unique items like rare DVD's and Blu-Rays, Universal monster figures and decorations. The sale will be located at 110 S. Austin Ave Decatur, IL 62522.

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of the Avon Theater, a place that has been a beloved part of our family for over 25 years.
Our dear owner, Skip, who poured his heart and soul into this theater, passed away recently, and we’ve been struggling with the debt accumulated in the last few years. Despite the incredible support from our community through GoFundMe, the financial burden was just too great. This was the hardest decision we have had to make and it marks the end of an era.
The Avon Theater wasn’t just a business—it was a home for our family. Skip and Sue’s grandchildren grew up here and created countless memories in its halls. It’s where our daughter even got married, and where so many special moments were shared with all of you.
Thank you for all the years of support. This is the end of an unforgettable chapter, but the memories we’ve made here will live on forever. We will forever be grateful for the love and community that the Avon Theater has brought to our family.

On this dreary cloudy day join us to see the #1 film in the country, Dog Man. Even better all shows are only $5/ticket! Show times for 2/8 at 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00.

Thank you all for the patience in this hard time. We have loved all the comments that you have left for us and read everyone. For all our friends who have donated to the GoFundMe, it means more than we could ever show. We have figured out the schedule for the movie this weekend. We are again only running in the Avon with Dog Man:
Friday- 4:00 and 7:00
Saturday- 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00
Sunday- 1:00 and 4:00
ALL SHOWS $5!!!

While we mourn today we all know that there was nothing that Skip loved more to do than talk to all the Avon customers each and every weekend. As the famous saying goes, "the show must go on." We are going to open this weekend on a limited basis. Tonight we will be open and showing the new family film Dog Man at 4 and 7 tonight. Saturday at 1,4 and 7 and Sunday at 1 and 4.
