Someone photographed one of our moms without asking. She was on a couch, laptop open, phone in hand, child playing a few feet away. The caption said “Jumpin’ Jellybeans is not a daycare” and told her to get off her computer.
We found out because of our moms; thank you.
She gave us permission to show you the photo. It is the first one here.
Whoever took it believed they were catching a mother at her worst.
They caught her at her best. And they caught us at ours.🤗
This photo is the closest representation we have to our mission statement. Nine years of work, and someone with a phone and bad intentions took the perfect picture of it. A child playing hard. A mother close enough to reach her, safe enough to set the weight of the world down for a minute. That is not a scandal. That is Jumpin’ Jellybeans. We have couches on purpose.
It’s easy for someone to take a moment in time and create judgment. But there are things a moment can’t tell you about a mom and things you can’t see from a photo.
The mom who wakes up at 5 a.m. with zero time to herself, the mom who is a business owner and has an invoice past due she needs to send, or the working mom who got a message from her boss at 4:12 on a Wednesday.
They see a phone.
We see a mom who chose to bring her child somewhere safe and fun so she could just be. Be a boss, be a good employee, be a good friend and return a call, or simply be nothing. Unintrupted.
This is our mission, this is our purpose, this is why we are here.
To the moms in these photos, you deserve this moment.
To every parent who has felt watched or judged. You are not judged at Jumpin’ Jellybeans.
Open the laptop. Take the call. Eat while it is hot. Drink one more cup of coffee, finish that book, close your eyes. Or, if you’re like me, lie on the floor and throw a fit.
To whoever took the photo, you’re welcome here too. Say hello next time. Our moms are pretty darn cool!
We’re not a daycare. We never said we were.
We are The Boutique Playspace where moms can kick off their shoes, relax their feet, and just be all while their kids play.
Every mom in this post gets it! We hope you will too, there is plenty of room on the couch!
