COLTS CARE COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY 2025: I couldn’t be more proud of R44 students and staff. 13 projects, 135 students and just 2-3 intense hours and we packages 1440 lbs of pasta and made 696 sugar cookies for the Great Plains Food Bank, made 11 card holders for the elderly, 35 blankets for Sanford, and built shelving/lockers for Colfax Fire/Rescue, ladders for the school and a gun rack for the trap team. Students also made and sold lasagna and monster cookies for charity, caroled and donated houseplants to 3 retirement homes, taught about plants at a preschool, packed food at the food bank, made posters for winter sports/activities/organizations and painted the resource room. Huge thanks to FFA, FCCLA, and Student Council for organizing today’s event.

Richland Colts football and Richland 44 FFA both got wins last night! Thanks to the members who participated in the FFA Drive Your Tractor to School event and everyone who supported our Kiss the Sheep event. A huge thanks to Mr. Davison for “winning” and helping the FFA chapter raise funds for the American SIDS Foundation.

🌟 Congratulations to Cora Hermunslie of the Richland 44 FFA Chapter – North Dakota’s 2025 Star in Ag Placement! 🌟

Cora’s impressive placement SAE spans small animal care, poultry production, and plant breeding. From caring for neighborhood pets to managing her family’s chicken flock, she’s gained hands-on experience in animal care and responsibility. 🐔🐾🌱

The heart of her placement lies at Nuseed, where she began in 2022 supporting sunflower breeding. Over time, she advanced to roles involving pollen collection, tissue sampling, and plant identification—proving her growth and value in the ag industry.

Cora is advised by Mr. Boehm and is the daughter of Ryan and Laura Hermunslie. 💙💛

R44 FFA Gold Rush Day 4: A great last day of convention! Cora H had an unbelievable week and finished with a 1st place finish in the Food Science event and the coveted but elusive baby bison trophy! The Env/Nat. Resource team took 7th and a gold rating, with Ethan S (10th-gold),Colton D (15th-g), Cody B and Payton W silvers, and Julianne B bronze. Julianne also earned a bronze award in Nursery. In Farm Business Management, Ina G earned silver, leading the team that also included Eli R, Ryan S, and Lincoln H. Ina earned a silver award in Basic Ag Mech for her 15th place. The Floral team took 14th. Members were Lila V, Kalie B, Violet H, and Abbie F, with all placing silver. Julianne B competed in Nursery/ Landscape and Milo S competed in the Meats event.

Very proud and excited for the future.

R44 Gold Rush day 3: Congratulations to Cora H, the 2025 State Star in Ag Placement, and to Kalie B, a state finalist State Star in AgriScience. Cora, Julianne B, Kalie, and Alexis V also received their State FFA degree. Emma H was recognized for submitting her American FFA Degree, an honor she will receive in Oct at National FFA Convention. So proud of all these R44 FFA members! Lots more awards tomorrow morning.

R44 FFA Gold Rush Day 2:
Amazing day 2 awards session as four R44 members walked across stage to receive Proficiency awards. Nick W state winner in Outdoor Rec, Preston S state winner in Div. Crop production, Kalie B state winner in Ag Educ., and Cora H state finalist in Ag Service. The 10th place Small Animal Care team included Ethan S, Alexa A, Carter P, and Austen P, who all earned gold awards and Gavin V taking bronze. Bring on Day 3!

2025 Richland 44 Gold Rush begins! Congratulations to R44 and Kalie B for being recognized as a state finalist in the Food for America program and receiving a gold award. R44 FFA was also recognized as a ND Superior Chapter and a finalist in the Premier Chapter award for their Plants for Public Wellness project, led by Julianne B. The National Chapter Award application now advances to the national level. The Small Animal Care team competed this afternoon with awards to come.
