After Mephisto and Colonel Redl, director István Szabó made HANUSSEN with actor Klau Maria Brandauer and cinematographer Lajos Koltai. Brandauer plays Klaus Schneider, a recovering World War I sergeant whose empathy and clairvoyant abilities help him aid suicidal patients. Encouraged by both his psychiatrist and his lover, Schnieder takes on the stage name Hanussen to perform in Berlin., where his predictions of N**i victory attract the attention of those in power.

“Szabó heightens the mysticism with a pervading sense of menace which, together with Koltai’s exquisite visuals, captivates attention throughout” —Time Out Film.

From acclaimed director Werner Herzog comes the new documentary GHOST ELEPHANTS.

For a decade, conservation biologist Steve Boyes has been in search of a mysterious elusive herd of Ghost Elephants in the highlands of Angola, a wooded plateau — virtually uninhabited, but in size as large as England. He sets out with master trackers from Namibia, the best remaining in the world, but there is a deep underlying question: would it not be better to keep these gigantic elephants rather as a dream, as ghosts, as the White Whale, than finding them in reality?

“Ghost Elephants resides in the intersection of science and lyrical reverie — Herzog’s treasured terrain” –Lisa Kennedy, The New York Times

“The melodrama begins at such a high pitch, you might think it has nowhere to go but down, yet this earnestly inflamed tale of art, grief, betrayal and all-consuming amour on steroids keeps finding new ways to surprise” Guy Lodge, Variety

Once a child prodigy, accomplished pianist Mathias Vogler returns to his hometown to reunite with his mentor, Elena, to prepare a series of duets. In TWO PIANOS, a chance meeting with Claude, a former lover, and the sighting of a boy in a park who looks much like him, forces Mathias to explore his past and what could have been.

In MORGIANA, two sisters, both played in convincingly different styles by Iva Janzurova, have a falling out when one receives a larger inheritance after their father’s death. The aggrieved sister decides to use a slow acting poison on her sibling, then suffers guilt for what she’s doing.

“What could easily have resulted in a patchwork of styles comes delightfully together as a small gothic treat, an offbeat and seductive hybrid of period (melo-) drama and post-60s experimentalism, one that gender-inverts Poe, building intriguingly to a final scene in which chance and irony collide in a manner that should play as preposterous, but somehow feels just right for the story” –Slarek, Cine Outsider

Comprised entirely of hundreds of pirated film samples, HELLO DANKNESS is a bent suburban musical that bears witness to the psychotropic cultural spectacle of the period 2016 to 2021.

Set in the American suburbs, the film follows a neighbourhood through these years as consensus reality disintegrates into conspiracies and other political contagions. Part political satire, zombie stoner film, and Greek tragedy, the work is also informed by the encrypted memetics of contemporary internet culture.

REELING, the striking debut feature by Yana Alliata, is a lyrical and emotionally charged exploration of memory, trauma, and belonging set against the idyllic family property on Oahu’s windward side. After a life-altering accident, Ryan returns to his family’s homestead for a birthday luau, attempting to reconnect with old friends and relatives who now feel like strangers. As the pig roasts slowly in the imu pit and the atmosphere turns festive, buried tensions simmer beneath the surface as Ryan uncovers the secret.
