The Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art invites patrons to broaden their movie and musical horizons with our Cult Musical series featuring Brian DePalma’s PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE (9:00 PM on 9/3), Matt Stone’s and Trey Parker’s CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL (9:05 PM on 9/17), VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS (8:50 PM on 10/1), PRIVILEGE (6:15 PM on 10/17 & 7:30 PM on 10/18), and THE AMERICAN ASTRONAUT (8:50 PM on 10/22 & 5:10 PM on 10/25).

During a robbery at a petrol station in town, one of the accomplices is shot dead. The other, Samba Traoré, flees with the loot: a suitcase full of banknotes. After years away, he returns to his native village. Life has gone on as usual, and Saratou is as beautiful as he remembers her. Director Idrissa Ouedraogo paints a portrait of a man haunted by his past, trying to rebuild his life and start afresh. But past mistakes never stay buried for long.

The Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art is honored to host a screening of THIS IS PIKE COUNTY, the new documentary by Laura Paglin on Thursday, August 27th at 6:30 PM. Mounting pressures – including an unsolved family murder – test a close-knit rural community. Shot by director Laura Paglin, who lived at the local budget motel, the film lingers on what it means to come of age in a place left behind.
