CLOSED FOR THE SEASON

Due to an overwhelming amount of personal logistics lately, I have decided to put Attack of the 50-Foot Movie on hiatus for now.

Those of you who've been there know that I work hard to make it much more than just a bunch of people watching a movie in a bar. With my current work schedule, I don't feel that I've been able to put the proper amount of work and creative juice into the event. So, rather than struggle to half-ass it, I would rather hold off until I'm in a place where I can really devote all my attention to it again.

"CLASH OF THE TITANS" isn't just a fun fantasy movie. It's the culmination of a special-effects career spanning over 40 years, showcasing a mastery of hands-on, stop-motion animation skills that, with the advent of CGI and AI, will never be repeated.

Ray Harryhausen got his start under the mentorship of Willis O'Brien (creator of the original "King Kong" animation in 1933), and was responsible for most of the onscreen monsters seen between the 1940s and the 1980s. Early on, he developed his "Dynamation" system which greatly improved the realism and quality of stop-motion effects on film, and which was a huge influence on later directors such as Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Without Harryhausen's pioneering work, there would be no "Star Wars" or "Raiders of the Lost Ark" as we know them.

Join us this Tuesday, July 29th at Minnie's Bar Bk for an informal celebration of Ray Harryhausen, Greek Mythology, 1980s-style Fantasy, and the masterpiece of pure-analog technology that is "CLASH OF THE TITANS".
