On October 18th the Hungarian Cultural Association organized a Dance House event to familiarize people with Hungarian folk dances. We welcomed prof. Henrik Kovács, a folk dance teacher, kinetography expert, and Fulbright visiting scholar at Kenyon College, Ohio. Prof. Kovács taught us several traditional circle dances, such as Kezes, Kecskés, Pálmácska, and the renowned Csárdás—now recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. In addition to folk dance, folk music also played a part in the program: prof. Kovács played us some beautiful folk songs on the traditional Hungarian flute.
We had an amazing time and would like to express our gratitude to such a wonderful instructor and to all who supported this event: Hungarian Cultural Association, Central Eurasian Studies, Russian and East European Institute, IAUNCR, Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance, The Institute for European Studies, and Fulbright Hungary.
