Hi All:
This week, the first film week of September, we have a new film, a special screening and a new event listed!! Also, please keep in mind that Wednesday is Open Caption day for our deaf and hard of hearing friends as long as the film distributor provides us with it. Plus don't forget that Thursday is bargain day. $6 per person for all our movie showtimes!
Here's the film schedule for this week 9/4-10/2026:
"The Salt Path" Unrated, 1 hour 55 minutes
A profound true story of husband and wife, Raynor and Moth Winn's 630-mile trek along the beautiful but rugged Cornish, Devon and Dorset coastline. After being forcibly removed from their home, they make the desperate decision to walk in the hope that, in nature, they will find solace and a sense of acceptance. With depleted resources, only a tent and some essentials between them, every step along the path is a testament to their growing strength and determination. Beginning in September through December, we have a once a month film series brought to you by AARP of Long Island and the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport entitled "Movies Turning 50" and they are all FREE! On October 22, 2026 @ 7pm "Carrie" Rated R, 1 hour 38 minutes from director Brian De Palma. A rock star on the decline, John Norman Howard (Kris Kristofferson) has given in to drugs and excessive drinking, and his music has suffered as a result. Wandering into a club one night, John watches singer Esther Hoffman (Barbara Streisand) perform and is smitten. The two begin dating, and soon John lets Esther take the spotlight during his concerts. Our last one of the series! On December 3, 2026 @ 7pm "Network" Rated R, 2 hours 1 minute. From director Sidney Lumet. In this lauded satire, veteran news anchorman Howard Beale (Peter Finch) discovers that he's being put out to pasture, and he's none too happy about it. After threatening to shoot himself on live television, instead he launches into an angry televised rant, which turns out to be a huge ratings boost for the UBS network. This stunt allows ambitious producer Diana Christensen (Faye Dunaway) to develop even more outrageous programming, a concept that she takes to unsettling extremes. On Sunday, October 4, 2026 @ 1pm come and meet "The Real Deal" Lou Telano a retired NYPD detective famous for extreme undercover disguises, high arrest numbers and creative crime-fighting tactics that directly inspired the TV series "Starsky & Hutch," Together with his late partner John Sepe, the two became legends. Our bargain day remains on Thursday when it's $6 per person all day long. Our Open Caption day continues to be every Wednesday provided the film company supplies us with captioning.
