JUNE DOCUMENTARY AT THE BEACON! (Yup, 2 docs in June!) 💭 ASK E. JEAN | Monday, June 8th at 7:30pm ONE NIGHT ONLY with a special Q&A after the screening with director Ivy Meeropol. Tickets are selling fast 🎟️

ASK E. JEAN is the thrilling story of E. Jean Carroll, one of the most remarkable and original voices in American life. From her early days as Miss Cheerleader USA to her rise as a trailblazing journalist, author, and beloved advice columnist, Carroll broke barriers as the first female editor at Esquire, Pl***oy, and Outside, helping redefine women’s roles in media. More recently, she reignited public discourse by becoming the only woman to beat Donald Trump twice in court, winning a settlement of over $85 million and sparking a national conversation about truth, accountability, and resilience. Bold, necessary, and completely unforgettable.

June at The Beacon: Pride! 🏳️‍🌈 All month long we’re screening four films that changed everything:
BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER (1999) | June 5–11 Before Poker Face, before OITNB, there was Natasha Lyonne in a pink uniform. The cult classic that started it all.
THE CRYING GAME (1992) | June 12–18 6 Oscar nominations, winner of Best Original Screenplay. The kind of film that stays with you.
THE WEDDING BANQUET (1993) | June 19–25 Ang Lee’s breakthrough film before Crouching Tiger, before Brokeback. A hilarious, tender indie about identity, expectation, and love.
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (2005) | June 26–July 2 8 Oscar nominations, 3 wins including Director, Screenplay, and Score. One of the most talked about films of its decade. And yes, two Ang Lee films in one month…not by accident 😉

PLUS: Thursday, June 25 at 7pm: a special screening of “Second Nature,” presented with 🏳️‍⚧️

This Friday at The Beacon: CABARET (1972) 👯‍♀️🪩🎩🥂💄 playing May 15-21 as part of our May Musicla series! Winner of 8 Academy Awards. Liza Minnelli is unforgettable as Sally Bowles, a cabaret dancer at the Kit Kat Klub, who falls in love with two regulars at the club. Set in Berlin during the early 1930s, at the cusp of the N**i rise to power.

Rainy days 🤝 hiding out at the movies. Tasty concessions, cozy seats, and a refuge from the rain. Here’s what’s coming up at the Beacon:
FRIDAY: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES 🐑🕵️ and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Feed me, Seymour! 🌱 Part of our May Musicals series)
MONDAY 5/11: GROUP: THE SCHOPENHAUER EFFECT (one night only!) In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Part documentary, part drama. When a newcomer joins a Manhattan therapy session and announces he wants to turn their stories into a TV series, everything unravels. Scripted meets improvised as Dr. Elliot Zeisel, a real New York psychoanalyst, leads these sessions as he would in his actual practice. Q&A to follow. Come for something a little different.
