Maine-raised and Portland-based director and actor CJ Howey is bringing his latest dramatic film, RED SHORE, a moving tale of loss, love, and the unexpected paths to healing, to Bar Harbor on Saturday May 2, 2026 at 2pm. Advance tickets are available now on our website ($5 admission, no Big Tickets); kitchen will be open. There will be a Q&A with the director and several members of the cast afterwards. "Soldiers and Dancers: the Art of a Princely State", is a 40-minute documentary. It presents footage shot in 1969, the result of an expedition in dance ethnography in the former princely state of Mayurbhanj, E. India. The film presents this archival footage in a cultural and physical setting that makes it accessible to American audiences. Judith Blank did the slides, sound recordings, and Super 8mm films and is the narrator. Joshua Alsup, her son, composed all those pieces into a film with an entertaining soundtrack.

Two totally different movies start Friday 4/17.

On screen Right for the next 2 weeks, we are playing the #1 movie in the country right now, family-friendly fun animation THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE (PG), while on screen Left for just this week we present a pretty-new Canadian indie, a madcap time travel comedy NIRVANNA: THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE (R).

Advance tickets are available on our website now, and whatever seats remain at 4pm day of show will be sold at the box office. We are still closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the moment, but open daily will be happening soon.
