Your Cinema Series returns Thursday, September 10 with 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. screenings of the Academy Award–nominated LITTLE AMÉLIE OR THE CHARACTER OF RAIN..

The world is a perplexing yet peaceful mystery to young Amélie—until a miraculous encounter with chocolate ignites her boundless curiosity. As she develops a deep attachment to her family’s housekeeper, Nishio-san, Amélie begins to discover the wonders of nature as well as the emotional truths hidden beneath the surface of her family’s seemingly idyllic life as foreigners in postwar Japan.

Adapted from the autobiographical novel by Amélie Nothomb and brought to life through the wholly original animated style of directors Maïlys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han, LITTLE AMÉLIE OR THE CHARACTER OF RAIN is a tender, poignant, and visually stunning story about childhood, discovery, and the healing power of human connection.

Our evening screening features a 6:00 p.m. pre-screening social hour with the Secret Record Night DJs and complimentary refreshments.

We were very pleased to see that The Academy honored the great Tatsuya Nakadai in their “in memoriam” segment during last night’s Oscars broadcast.

Come discover or rediscover what made Nakadai one of the most enduring and versatile talents to grace the screen. He features in all three of the films we will be screening during our “Weekend with Akira Kurosawa!”

Newly restored in 4K to coincide with its 40th anniversary, Stop Making Sense is a visually and aurally stunning collaboration between the renowned filmmaker Jonathan Demme and the pioneering new wave band Talking Heads. It is considered by critics as the greatest concert film of all time.
