Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE changed horror forever with its raw, documentary-like style and unrelenting atmosphere of terror. When a group of young travelers crosses paths with a family of murderous outsiders in rural Texas, the result is a landmark of independent filmmaking that redefined what low-budget horror could achieve.

FUN FACT: Despite its graphic reputation, the film contains surprisingly little onscreen gore—its terror comes largely from suggestion, sound, and sheer psychological intensity.
